Is that a homemade muffler on this VX?

This is a nice video showing a VX inside and out. Not much to see for us VX veterans, except at 1:56 underneath is a strange looking box thingy. I could only conclude that it's a homemade muffler. If that's what it is, I have to say that's a pretty cool idea. If I had the tools and the skills I'd be down for that.

Make your own with the exact sound ya want. Instead of hearing some exhaust expert tell ya thay have nothing that'll fit and maybe they can rig something up and then ya get a tin can that rusts out in a year, make your own and answer only to yourself. I like it.
