Maybe this issue is synonomous with the '3" lift & CV boot eating' issue. Some get away with it ... some don't. I'm not S/C'd so I'm just talkin out my arse.

Remove the hood liner. If that doesn't fix the problem ... start looking at a rad upgrade.
