VX exoskeleton

Figured the title would get some attention. Turns out a friend of mine at work is almost done with a bachelors in welding, including MIG/TIG/ARC and so on. He is getting licensed to build race car frames. He has tons of metal working tools, and we were tossing around the idea of building an exo on my VX. With winter coming, he has time off of school, and he said he would entertain the idea. That would be sweet!!!!!!!! Someone who knows what they are doing, I don't think I will do a full cage, but just a lower, but who knows, once we get going....this will be another VX first, then Orion will beat me to the punch, make mine look like poop, and then steal all the glory!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tossed around the idea with Ascinder and nfpgasmask in Moab last year. I would like to but I just think it would look like arse.

I understand what you are saying, but I think if you follow the curves of the cladding, it can be done and look good. I want to come off the sliders, so I can use the lower bar as a side step/access to the roof rack, up along the fenders, and just under the windows, around the rear under my door mounted spare and back down to the hitch. I don't know, my buddy will have to look at it. He builds roll cages for cars right now.

that Taranthula monstrosity on another thread or maybe like it has braces. Of course its really going to help our outstanding gas mileage in my opinion of course.

As far as gas mileage, no worries, mine already gets in the 12s, but when I drive 4.5 miles each way to work, I don't care.

No roll cage, it already has one, that is why there really isn't a back window, the support bracket goes up through it. I dig the "Subaru", and would love to have it if I could afford it and it was close. Plus I have braces, so my grill and my truck's grill would match.

As stated, it is a "Work In Progress". Sadly, I agree whole-heartedly that it is an ugly P.O.S. at the moment.
