I had Wife 1.0 running happily for over 10 years, and a couple child processes concurrently. However, changes in the operating system caused Wife 1.0 to become sluggish, and consume huge amounts of all resources (my memory is shot now), so I uninstalled Wife 1.0 about 12 years ago. One of the child processes, and a newly developing grand-child process, followed the Wife 1.0 bus.
After 10 years, I think I finally got child process 2.0 running on it's own processor, but child process 1.0, and a second grand-child process (still in development mode), have been popping up on the screen lately, and threatening to assimilate into my otherwise stable environment.
I bought this machine for single-player gaming and social networking, not SIMS and beta testing. McAfee seems to have no power to prevent these viruses and spybots from invading my personal space. D'OH!!!

Gregg,
It only took me about 10 years to get Wife1.0 completely uninstalled.
Wife2.0 was very easy to install. It did take over my entire system but does such a good job that I'm happy with it.
I still have issues with Child1.0 and Child1.3 although Child1.2 does very well. StepChild Apps 1 thru 3 integrated very well.
I may just have to put Wife2.0 into firmware as a permanent solution.

You people crack me up! Me being the computer "nurd" I am. I'm even learning some of the lingo. For me, Wife 1.0 was installed almost 36yrs. ago when they still used punch cards to program, no Child program would take. It was not from lack of attempted installation, but programing wouldn't stick. However, I will say that lack of Child 1.0,2.0 or 3.0 did allow for certain operational upgrades, such as larger storage space for wife 1.0, bassboat (1.0,2.0 &3.0), MiamiViceCar 1.0, and VX 1.0. So even though I'm operating an antiquated system a little Metamucil 3.0 keeps it running smooth.
I hear that Wife1.0 is particularly susceptable to the "put that thing away & go to sleep" virus.
