My son was 17 when he became an Eagle Scout in 2001
    Troop 616

He started as a Tiger Cub in First Grade thats when they got me to be a Adult Leader.

I was only a Cub Scout as a youth. I kind of thought it might be fun to be a Adult Leader, and it was.

6 years as a Cub Scout Den Leader

8 years as a Assistant Scoutmaster

    1 year as the Scoutmaster

    Woodbadge trained

OSI (Outdoor Skills instructor) National training

    High Adventure trained

    Winter Backpack trained

Brotherhood Member in the Order of the Arrow

Have been to Philmont in New Mexico 3 times
    Twice for National level training
Once for a Trek - 73 mile 9 day backpack

Was a Merit Badge counselor for:
    Camping
    Hiking
    Backpacking
    Cycling
    Pioneering
    Graphic Arts

Our Troop size averaged about 45 boys and got as big as 80.

Some of the activities our Troop did:

    Bi-Annual Philmont Trek
Annual Colorado River Canoe Trip - Black Star Canyon from base of Hoover Dam down 30 miles was the best
Annual Trip - Backpacking or Car Camp in Death Valley National Park
Annual Summer Camp, best was on Santa Catalina Island
    Backpack Mt. Whitney 14,500 ft.
Backpack Mt. San Gorgonio 11,500 ft.
Backpack Mt. San Jacinto 10,800 ft.
    Backpacking Joshua Tree National Park
Whitewater Rafting on the Kern River
    100 Mile Bike Rides
    Rock Climbing
    Cave spelunking
    Soaring
    Moonlight Backpacking
    Mountain Biking
    Rocketry

Some 15 years later I finally retired from Scouting in 2004.
