I think the same way, in everything I do, and couldn't help but wonder if others out there were Eagle Scouts also.

yeah, I lucked out. My troop understood the fact that the experience and learning was more important than strict uniform regulations. We wore our uniform shirts for "Fancy" occasions and that was about it. And NEVER green socks and shorts/pants. That also helped keep boys in the troop when they felt it wasn't cool to wear that stuff. Again, I lucked out.

i lucked out too...as my troop also realized that it was more important to learn the lessons and spend the time than looking like an idiot...we only wore them in ceremonies...

My son was 17 when he became an Eagle Scout in 2001

He started as a Tiger Cub in First Grade thats when they got me to be a Adult Leader.
I was only a Cub Scout as a youth. I kind of thought it might be fun to be a Adult Leader, and it was.
6 years as a Cub Scout Den Leader
8 years as a Assistant Scoutmaster
1 year as the Scoutmaster

High Adventure trained

Brotherhood Member in the Order of the Arrow
Have been to Philmont in New Mexico 3 times

Our Troop size averaged about 45 boys and got as big as 80.

A 'Go Bag' is a prepacked bag you can grab if you ever have to 'Go' or flee, be the disaster natural or manmade.
Small tools, currency or bullion coins, first aid items, copies of ID, a compact firearm, In general, anything you'd want to bring if your whole world became an episode of Survivor Island.
In any emergency there are those that survive, and those who perish. Some of it just luck, but some of it is under your control, and you can tip the odds in your favor with a proper Go Bag.
