Here are some of the results of the roof scoop installed, but still gots way more left to finish the project but got the whole idea finished in my head, now i need to find all the right stuff to finish it.

Looks good Coastie! Good luck with the plumbing...
thanx, i have a very good idea and well plan, but just need to find the proper and strong material to get the project rolling, and for hiding the plumbing in side the VX i have a great idea aswell, just again, i need to get off my arse and start looking. but everything seems very well though. hopefully,![]()
Honestly I wasn't sure when you mentioned this how it would look, but I think you can pull it off now. Can't wait to see the finished product, looking good so far!![]()
That Looks Great...Ive been thinking of a smaller on the roof area and put led driving lights in it
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/sh...13348&cat=3196 .since im not going to cut a hole in the roof.....i got one of the smaller ones for the hood ..but im not happy with the look.

Looks good Coastie! I think it really works with the rally look you are going for. Keep us posted on your progress.
Hi costie,I'm surprise you are determind to pull off this plan, yet still I do have my reservations about that air induction to the engine.
Remember that air dams were designed to provide air to the engine bay,not to be use as a air intake. You may regret having that stuff done to your engine if air bone debries gets thru the dam & makes his way to the throttle, what about water on rainy day or bugs, even small birds.I mean common costie,i think you're pushing things beyond limits.
The VX is a "rally inspired" SUV,that's why it comes with a special suspension system & nice aereodynamics design so no big mods is needed to "transform" your nice looking toy to go rally;Plus ask your self if rallying will be a huge part of the VX life, unless you'are thinking becoming a professional rally racer I'll focus more on improving the engine's power & the drivetrain reliability/dependability more then a air dam over the roof.
Adding a dam over means you'll be forced to modify the front side of headliner, less windshield vision, less head room.
The last thread you mentioned this project you asked what we do think about it,many of us answered your ?? 'bout it negativetly & i guess all us can't be wrong.
However good luck costie....PURA VIDA
Dakar was just the begining.
Allow me to be the first to swim against the current and be unpopular opinion (as usual)...
*facepalm*
First off, too big. Looks like an eyesore to me and I am a Subaru guy.
I saw the other thread (and that is the scoop I voted LEAST likely), and I am still REALLY completely unsure of what purpose a ram air of any sort will do for you from there at all.You will REALLY need to be ramming some heavy air and going pretty fast to force air through all that plumbing to do anything at all for your engine bay (which will still really do nothing, so too many of us have found out, heh).
The work involved will seriously hamper any chances you have in resale.
Sorry dude, gotta say it.... rice. Just my opinion of course, but when you are embedded in the Subaru show/autoX community as much as I am, you see some absurd stuff (that even makes your project look golden).
Don't mean to pi55 on your picnic, but sometime ssome wisdom can be found in various opinions, heh.

That's exactly what i meant; If he is so focus on being rally oriented then spend those $$$$ on the engine, trans & drivetrain.
Costie also mentioned flooding & by experience, because i'm. also from a tropical country i can assure you once you get into a flooding there's no snorkel that works, only a winch, however Mrharris told him to do whatever costie is happy with which i'll agree with, but since he consulted us about this proyect many of us provide him some insight.
Well like i said before, i like it, some like it and like the rest of the people that have seen our VX's not so many like it, so by just owning a Vx, you are swimming against the current anyways. Its cool that you feel that way, it's what you think and i respect that. But i didn't post pictures of it to have people judge it, just look at it. and like i was brought up, if you don't got something nice to say, don't say it at all, it won't get you anywhere but just put rinkles on peoples forheads. and i was not asking for an openion on this thread, just keeping the people interested involved thats it. I'm not upset, but ricer, i think thats a little to far. Its a functional scoop. Rally vehicals have them, eather for fresh air inside for the drivers or for ram air on very modified Rally vehicals. This scoop is for a snorkle reason mainly like i said before, if nothing else works, at least the snorkle will work for the true intension of this project. Also just cuz rally vehicals have not done a scoop for just a snorkle don't mean i can't. Hay maybe i'm the first to start something new. Well anyways a snorkle does work Gussie, thats why they are made. I understand your from Columbia and you know about vehicals back at ur home counrty have snorkles for flooding reasons, but they do make them for the reason your vehical won't hydro-lock. it's not like i'm going scooba diving or anything, just for emergancy perpose and fun offroading.

With the exception of old muscle car shaker hoods, most hood intakes are used to provide air to intercoolers. When you look at stock or semi stock, if there's an intake it's on top of a supercharger or velocity stack, normally tall enough to take advantage of some of the additional cool air. I think the placement in this application would provide some cooler air, my only concern is what shape it'll be in when it gets down to the engine compartment.
You do get the added benefit of the snorkling effect, provided the path is well sealed all the way to the intake - however the biggest problem most people drivng thorugh water in the VX has experienced is a failed alternator. Something about the water getting inside the wiring components - read some of the threads of the Ocala off-road meets. You may want to do something to shore up and waterproof the other electrical elements under the hood if there's deep water in your future.
Kudos on trying something different - whether it works the way you thought or not, at least you're doing something about it instead of talking. Tone may not have approved of what you're doing, but I'm sure he'd be on board with the attitude behind it.
