Is a -19 Offset going to look crap??? help with options!

I am REALLY struggling on what to do with my VX, i did the Lift with the OME 912's and 10 cranks of the front torsion bars last weekend and test fitted some 16 x 9" rims. Problem is they are -19mm offset so they throw the wheels out of the arches quite a way

Especially with the 285 75 16 tyres. In this country they have to be covered and the only thing i can find to do that is this http://www.qtservices.co.uk/product.asp?id=2913# but im worried it is going to look nasty instead of mean!! something like this??

Or would the smaller 45mm fender extension that Ldub has be sufficient???

    Any ideas??????

The other option is to keep my standard 16" rims and put the new 285 75 16 tyres on them? like this

But i just don't like the standard rim!!!!

I could add some 30mm spacers to give the wheels a +8mm offset and fill out the arches a bit more? but would i then need some smaller arch extensions like Ldub anyway?

The only other rim i can see that is the style i want is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/285-75-16-MAST...1%7C240%3A1318 but again, the offset is 0 so it is going to stick out from the arches right???

ARGHHHH I don't know what to do. I only want to but wheels once! any ideas anyone??

Well, with -19 you are going to get a pretty beefy look. It's hard to say without seeing some meat on those wheels.

My wheels have a 0 offset, so just for reference, here is how far they stick out:

    Thanks Bart,

Im coming to the conclusion that i will sell these wheels!!

I am also thinking of going for a 265 75 16 tyre instead of a 285 to reduce the width and any adverse effect the extra rolling radius is going to have on the gearbox, diff etc

If I were you I would get the 285/75-16 MASTERCRAFT COURSER MTs. The rims you have already will look pretty sweet with some 285 wide tires, and surprisingly the 285 tires are really not going to stick out much further than the 9" rim (around 1" more). With a 9" rim and -19 offset you are looking at 4.25" backspacing, and my 8.5" rims with a +15 offset have a little over a 5.25" backspacing. So yes your RIMS stick out over 1" more than mine, but since you are looking at 285 tires (11" wide roughly) and I have 12.5" wide tires you tires will probably only stick out about 3/4" more than mine. I think you will be close to in the ballpark with the 285s on the current rims you have. It would not be my 1st choice, but considering you already have the rims I would at least try to 285s out for a while, I think it will grow on you and you will like it. If you were however throwing some 12.5" tires on there I would say no way. I gave you all the comparisons so you could compare and visualize using some of my photos if you want, here is one thread that might help in the visualization area:

Oi Mate, will the bobbies be a bother or am I just remembering what it was like around the air bases with us rich yanks?
Here is mine with a 285 and +18 offset

Thanks bud, thats a great help. I HAVE to cover the wheels with an arch extension and was hoping i could fit the wheels with a minimal 45mm extension (same as Ldub's) as i really don't want the 4.5" ones, they will look bad imho !

Yeah, 265 75/R16s are what I am running now, and imo, it looks perfect and balanced.
