Allow me to sound like the party pooper here, but, I don't like it. Probably mostly because of the aura that surrounds that here. Around here, guys paint their hoods black because they can't afford-want that C/F look. And trust me, you see it a LOT. Sorry CC.... I am sure you have your reasons, but I am already brainwashed.

You know, I see this all the time too. I think what Coastie should do at this point is something to his hood insert to offset the tone of the hood now. Either paint the whole thing black, or paint the hood insert another color (like red or white) to bring the contrast back.

And Coastie, let me say after all of this, that your VX is hot looking, I have always liked what you did, and you have the coolest looking rally VX out there, just offering my suggestions is all. It still looks baddddassss in my opinion.

As with all mods there’s a right and a wrong way to do just about everything.
Wormgod has a point. It seams like every kid with a Honda and some flat black spray cans is painting there hood. I do thing it look good on your VX but
Bart’s right, it needs a little something extra.

LOL, yup, it was me. I have always been very fond of contrast, and this goes for the VX as well. Even though my VX is all black, it still maintains that 2-tone look, or Black on Black. In the case of the lighter colored VXes, I think that contrast is even more important. I think he either needs to bring back that contrast and paint the hood insert white to match, or paint it black to blend in with the rest of the hood. Having the black hood, gray insert, white body, yellow lights, red vinyls, things are getting to 'busy'. There has to be a uniformity that brings it all together and keeps it looking pro.

See, I like the yellow up there. It looks good and rally-ish to me. And I love the red vinyls on the side, but now, Coastie has the hood to finish and I am confident he will succeed!!

Part of doing good mods to me is keeping it simple. You don't want to overload your vehicle with every possible mod available just because you can. When you do that, you start going down the tacky path from which there is usually no return. But as always, this is just my opinion. To each his own!
