    Huh, in that case....

I got to thinking about this yesterday and because of that, I took notice of every painted hood I saw while on my way home last night. I didn;t see a single C/F hood, but I did count 3 painted hoods (though one looked it was probably just off of a parted out car, heh). The one that took the cake was the Prelude that had a black hood with, not one, but TWO PepBoys stick on scoops. It was tEh SecKs!

LOL, yup, it was me. I have always been very fond of contrast, and this goes for the VX as well. Even though my VX is all black, it still maintains that 2-tone look, or Black on Black. In the case of the lighter colored VXes, I think that contrast is even more important. I think he either needs to bring back that contrast and paint the hood insert white to match, or paint it black to blend in with the rest of the hood. Having the black hood, gray insert, white body, yellow lights, red vinyls, things are getting to 'busy'. There has to be a uniformity that brings it all together and keeps it looking pro.

See, I like the yellow up there. It looks good and rally-ish to me. And I love the red vinyls on the side, but now, Coastie has the hood to finish and I am confident he will succeed!!

Part of doing good mods to me is keeping it simple. You don't want to overload your vehicle with every possible mod available just because you can. When you do that, you start going down the tacky path from which there is usually no return. But as always, this is just my opinion. To each his own!

con⋅trast –noun: opposition or juxtaposition of different forms, lines, or colors in a work of art to intensify each element's properties and produce a more dynamic expressiveness.

So therefore good sir, contrast can be "black on black" as in gloss black on flat black, or in the case of my VX, the gloss black compared to the almost black cladding. It does need to be "light and dark" as you may be thinking, although, that is likewise considered "contrast".

Very true! I always try to make my Mods look like they could have came that way from the factory. I think I’m the only one on the forum with a $1500 sound system attached to an OEM head unit.

    Talking

But the hood insert is black, it's flat black, and the hood itself is flat black with a clear coat, making it a little glossy but still flat if compared to a factory black painted car. you can't tell the diffrence really in person, other then the insert, it has no shine at all, thats it. I want to get the cladding around the whole VX painted with some rhino liner stuff but not bumpy. And thats the only thing on my VX thats really not black anymore, but grayish. Then it will look better when painted with black rhino stuff, i think.

But you all know here that pictures don't show what the eye can really see in person. every 1 that have seen it says it looks amazing. I wish you guys can see it in person, then you can really judge the look. But hay it's all good, cuz we all have diffrent taists here and thats what makes a VX meet or Car show interesting, Right? And it does not hurt me at all, cuz i'm happy with it, and thats what counts, That the owner is happy, Right?
Coastie, you know my stance on mods...

If YOU like it, that's all that matters!...Damn what the rest of the herd is doing!...

Until you get to about this point, then you might want to step back & re-evaluate...
