mustang03....what is your review of the herculiner stuff??? how difficult was it? how much did it set you back? how tough is it (will it stand up to a little scraping)??? considering doing the same thing to mine on the bottom half this summer....to go along with the front rock bumper, sliders, and rear bumper....give it the offroad look

For paint purposes I think Line-X is a better choice. It comes in different courseness's. You can get a near smooth version and it comes in a ton of colors. It is not for the light-of-wallet though!

Herculiner is good, surface prep is everything. Scuff it up good and you'll have no problem. It is about $90 at Pep Boys, Kragen etc. It is easy, but messy! Don't get it on anything you don't want Herculined, including you! It starts off kinda shiny, almost sparkley, but that goes away in a wash or two. All in all a great deal. Mine is 3 years old and has scraped in some places where I hit it HARD, but I only did 2 coats. I would recomend 3-4, especially where it will get the most wear. It also takes paint fine. Last time I re-painted the truck, I just sprayed the whole thing and it looks as good as new.

Spazz used Line-X for his VX and was able to rent the equipment to spray it himself. It actually looks better in person but he didn't care too much about consistent patterning so it could have looked even better.
