    I'm not familiar with the term 'cold brake wire'. What is it?

    Just a shot in the dark...but I took it to mean not hot, or possibly ground?

    That's what my thought was as well so any 'good' ground would work. When I put in my trailer lights, a good ground was hard to find back at the tail lights.
