Mine is very similar... '01....34k...flawless...lives on a lift in the warehouse, and comes out on occasion. Never even used the washers, wipers, or mirror heaters. I have a standing offer of 17,000....and that's high! You'll be lucky to get 15, and trade sits at 11 or 12. Sobering numbers

Edmunds estimates come in waaaaaay low. Look at what comapable year/mileage VX's are listed for on cars.com and price accordingly...

Definitely agree with VehiGAZ on using cars.com for a reality check. I paid a high-ish price (14K) for my '00 Foxfire Red VX because of the rarity of the color and the extremely low mileage (24K). The color was the real driving factor in the price since there are only 210 in existence. To give you an idea of how rare that really is, I looked on Autotrader/Ebay for about 6 months before I bought mine and saw a grand total of 5 for sale in the whole country. There were some listed for cheaper but the mileage was either significantly higher or the wear condition was pretty rough.

Another quick observation: VX's with the red/black interior scheme were selling for a LOT less than those with the gray/black scheme. The lowest prices I saw online (anywhere from 6-8K) were high mileage silver VX's with the red/black interior.

Regardless of what Carmax or KBB will tell you, I have my mind made up for IF and WHEN I ever sell....

I will ONLY sell to someone here, who has owned one before, and knows this breed well enough. Also, because they frequent this place to KNOW how to get the right info from the right people. Plus, they know the "personal" value of these gems so they would understand the selling price better than Bob who wants to upgrade from his Tercel.

Sorry, no first time buyers for mine.

BTW, I think it was last spring/summer, some dude offered me $20k CASH for mine. I never saw him in my life. Older man, well dressed, and looked and sounded good for it. Especially after he gave me the tour of the custom Z06 he was driving. But.... couldn't do it. He gave me a card in case I changed my mind. Said he always wanted one. Wish I still had the card. I would pass it on.

That would be very tempting, but I can't think of anything that I could buy for $20K (not even another VX!) that could replace my Proton. 10 or 20 years from now you'll look back on that day and think "I actually considered selling my VX for ONLY $20K???" Glad I held on to it." I was watching "Chasing Classic Cars" a couple nights ago, and this guy bought his old 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder back after 30 years of sitting in the desert. Original price - $22,500, unrestored price - almost $1,000,000. The VX is another Plymouth Superbird, trust me.

I keep looking for a VX to be sold at one of the Barrett-Jackson or Mecum auto auctions for a lot of money. Maybe sometime in the future.
