Looks like you had some fun. You think beach sand is bad, wait tell you get to Moab. I’m still finding Moab cinnamon in the nooks and crannies from the last trip.

Great Picks. In Florida where I am at we cannot drive on the beach. But we are in swim suits and tank tops because the temp is in the 80's

AAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!! Beach sand and salt!!!! Oh NO!!! I live two miles from the ocean, and haven't seen it in two years Sharkbite capital of the world, right here. I don't even surf this area anymore. Got my gator pond in the back yard....it's good enough.

    Fun stuff.

Careful with that salt air and sand. I found it always had some pretty negative effects on my VX when I did beach riding. Always clean that undercarriage REALLY good afterward. Better yet, pressure wash the whole thing!

Hey, Jody. Great pics. I haven't said welcome to you yet. I'm a relative Nube here and not nearly as prolific a poster as you, but welcome just the same.

Your VX looks great. I did some beachin' a few months ago. It's great fun, but the undercarriage cleaning of the salt took me about as long as the fun lasted. But who cares, huh? Once I move back to the mid-west I guess I'll be cleaning off salt of another kind.

I noticed you only have one of your "3.5 L" badges. You might consider removing the left one. If you're interested, do a search on "de-badging" or likewise. I haven't done the "3.5 L" badges yet, I'm not sure if I will, but I de-badged the rear door and am very happy with the clean look.

Looks like fun!!!!! I would go down to Galveston and try that myself, but then I might catch some weird disease from the nasty water, lol.

    hi everyone!

thanks so much for the kind responses! what a fun surprise to come home to! i look forward to logging on to the forum and see what everyone has to say!

yep...we spent LOTS of time cleaning underneath, the interior, and all of the nooks and crannys. thank goodness they have a do it yourself car wash very close by!

speaking of de-badging, i need to look into that. i thought it was only supposed to have the 3.5 on one side. i guess the other one must have fell off with the previous owner. my vx was/is a little rough. i guess the person that owned had it in alaska. it's been mechanically maintained, but it needs some TLC to the exterior/interior. I'm going to look into removing the other 3.5L emblem as well. i'm also going to switch out the grill to say "VX" in the carbon fiber emblem as well. The Nitto's are next on the list!

My boxster has been at the speed shop having some modifications done to it as well, so i've enjoyed driving my vx all week long.

oh ya...and cup holders are a must! i don't have them in the boxster either. i saw a thread about cup holders. there are a few of them that i'll have to pass on. if you've seen the thread, you'll know what i mean! LOL!

Thanks again for EVERYONE'S advice, info, encouragement, support, and friendship! I look forward to meeting you all some day!

    Hi Jody:

What is the exact size of your tires that you currently have on your VX? They seem to fit really nice inside the wheel wells (especially the front) without being lifted.

I too am looking to put new tires on my VX, and am leaning towards the BFG Rugged Trail TA (P275/70R18), or General Grabber AT2 (P265/70R18 or P275/65R18), or the Pro-Comp A/T (P285/60R18). All in "P" series for reduced unsprung weight. No way am I putting on "LT" series, as they're way too heavy to stop during braking. Riff Raff
