i had 265/70/16 on my vehicross.. i put 265/75/16 on it and my fuel economy has gone thru the roof !!!!!! i was getting 400km per tank around town... now im only getting 300.. just !!!! and my pick up off the line has dropped also.... im wishing i had gotten bigger tyres now![]()
All highway driving I was getting anywhere between 12-15MPG depending on hills. I was also having a drag increasing lights and roof rack, so I wasn't unhappy. But thankfully gas is cheap this week.
Pics are up in my gallery of the VX with 285/65 R16's on. Also there is a side pic of how much I had to trim to get the 285's to clear without rubbing. The VX made it through Uwharrie this weekend without a rubbing, so I did more then enough trimming on the front of the front tires. The backs, well I didn't trim. I justed used the BFH and gave it a couple good whacks. No issues. I do think that my 285/75 R16's are a bit on the small side. Inflated and with vehicle weight on them, they are only standing right at 32" tall. I think they are about a quarter to half inch smaller than other smiliar sized tires.

Just to bump up the thread.
Im due for new tires, come down to either 265/75/16, 275/75/16 or 285/75/16.
Im running a 16x8 0 offset wheel and a 2.5 lift, (ome912) tb crank and front bj flip.
Is it possible to run the 275/16/75 or 285/75/16 on the 0 offset wheel. without modding the wheel wells or alot of trimming ?
I know ill have to do some trimming how much would need to be done?.
So far im leaning towards to the 265/75/16s.
Cheers guys
Ignore what i wrote above please if you can answer do so. ive decided to go with the 265/75/16s. For a better price than the larger tyres and the ease of fitting them versus the 285 75s.

You can see from my gallery trimming wasn't really that bad, and it is only noticable on the car if you know what you are looking for.
when having to "trim".. what tool are you guys using..
looks like some rough edges in some pics..
any advice to reduce the rough look?
thanks
