    285/75 R16 questions.

    Guys,

I just picked up some 285/75 R16's. They are on the truck and I have to trim a bit tomorrow. So far it only rubs on the front bumper at the edge on a turn when the body leans. I will find out how much more I have to trim tomorrow when I flex it a bit.

    2 questions

    1) anyone with 285/75's. How much did you have to trim?

    2) my tires, under load, only sit at 32". I am just thinking that it is a small 285/75. But how how are your 285/75 under the weight of the vehicle?

FYI, ome 913's in the back and a torsion crank to almost level. Rocker panels are now sitting 18.25 inches off the ground.

Can you post some PICS with the 285/75/16, I just put 265/75/16 Nitto Grappler A/T on my 99 and had to do a little trimming on the inter front cladding. I thought this was as large as I could go on a stock rim and not rub with a little trimming.

All highway driving I was getting anywhere between 12-15MPG depending on hills. I was also having a drag increasing lights and roof rack, so I wasn't unhappy. But thankfully gas is cheap this week.

Pics are up in my gallery of the VX with 285/65 R16's on. Also there is a side pic of how much I had to trim to get the 285's to clear without rubbing. The VX made it through Uwharrie this weekend without a rubbing, so I did more then enough trimming on the front of the front tires. The backs, well I didn't trim. I justed used the BFH and gave it a couple good whacks. No issues. I do think that my 285/75 R16's are a bit on the small side. Inflated and with vehicle weight on them, they are only standing right at 32" tall. I think they are about a quarter to half inch smaller than other smiliar sized tires.
