I own a VX with factory shocks in really good shape, and I recently purchased a VX with worn out factory shocks. I replaced the bad shocks with the Bilsteins. In a side by side comparison, the factory shocks are slightly stiffer. The Bilsteins give a slightly smoother ride, but do not control quite as well during hard cornering (I'm an "enthusiastic" driver). All in all, they're nearly equal to the stock shocks, for 1/4 the cost. By the way, I bought the Bilsteins from the guys at Independance4X, and they were really good to deal with.
I'll second (or is it fifth at this point) the Bilstein reco - I pu tthem on my VX about 3 years ago, and they are very close to the OEMs and very good. A lifetime guarantee doesn't hurt, either!
Got a p/n or model number on the Bilstein shocks?
cwillyrun, I can get you those numbers this evening........

Most all part numbers you'll need are here (for bushings, shocks etc.)
thanks! Great thread
I have been thinking about putting some Bilsteins on my VX...I have not been able to use my rig since last Jan..that is when my back when out on me. With the Bilsteins doesn't the VX have a softer ride???
