Aero Turbine vs PV2 - with pics, sound soon.

ETL - has sound for PV2

I will be getting sound of my Aero Turbine 2525XL soon.

First here is side by side comparison:

Both Side by Side, Aero is quite a bit longer.

    PV2 - GUTS

    Aero 2525XL - GUTS

    PV2 Logo and shine

Aero 2525XL - Logo and shine

    PV2 Welds

    Aero 2525XL - welds

Side by side the Aero looks much more refined, way shinier, but the 2525XL is quite a bit bigger.

I went with the XL because I didn't want to be TOO loud, and the built in Resonator isn't power robbing, it's noise canceling.

Aero Turbine is a local company I went and met with them, and even showed them the PV2, they looked it over, didn't have anything bad to say, and just said, huh... that's pretty neat. I said, what could they have possibly patented on this... They replied, I have no idea.

They did say it looked like their muffler (pv2) isn't much different than a standard glass pack, and they figured it wouldn't last that long (the packing) Because there's not some kind of a something that That protects the pack like their mufflers do. (got me on that one)

    ---

I'm selling my PV2 to someone here on the forums, which is why I went with the Aero, and I'm very happy with how it sounds... It sounds incredible, nice low growl, no raspiness, etc.

One thing I was disappointed with was because of its length a "Y" wouldn't fit after it so i could have dual tailpipes, that's ok though. I don't have a nice tailpipe yet (just the factory) as I haven't decided on what tips I want (since I won't be going dual).

Anyway if anyone was interested in Build qualities, and image comparison of the this should provide some insight.

Thanks Little Beast for turning me on to Aero, Bonus they were local, and extremely nice!!

Also get a peek at my LED tail lights

Video taken on a point and shoot canon camera, using video setting.

Also video was compressed for web, but audio is still pretty good.

    Greetings!
Thanks for the write up! Looks like you got a quality product. I could not get the clip to play
Anyone else have luck, or is it just my hampster powered 'puter?
And thanks again for the PV2, you are one class act!

Dude that sounds great! I could not see the video but the audio came through pretty good. Sounds much like my PV1 but the Aero sounds a little better definitely. My PV1 has an annoying whine at 30-40mph and sounds WAY too loud with full throttle. Any chance you can get an audio sample of a wide open throttle? Maybe at a place your neighbors won't mind? Here in Houston my neighbors really don't seem to care, they are either used to the loud muffler by now or just glad that it is not something else (loud system, gunfire, etc). Really though that is a nice looking muffler man, really good build quality, and I like the audio clips so far. Hmmmm.....

Hey Snow, The videos are quicktime MOV... So you'll need this:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Latest version should also take care of you Beast.

Snow, you're welcome, and thanks for the kind words

If people continue to have trouble viewing them I'll export them as avi's But avi's can be even more crazy, million different codecs, Hopefully the built in For web AVI will work fine.

    Not doing wmv though

Also I'm going to be out basically all day today, my brother is getting married, so I may not get a clip until tomorrow, tomorrow's a better day anyway, Sunday in Utah the town is pretty much shut down, and there's no traffic, so I'll do some drive bys

I dunno man, theres something in that sound that I am not able to put my finger on. Almost like, the resonance is higher pitched/tingy and louder than what I get with the PV1 (only exp I have since I dont have or never heard the PV2). Doesn't sound as deep throated and sounds like its pushing higher db.

Maybe its the video though. Never trust what you cant see in person, heh.

And wow.... that thing is big! Its like a melon cannon. At least its undercarriage and not something that likes that poke its turtle head out of the rear.

PS- looks like a giant C02 cart from an air rifle.

I just picked up the 2525XL off of ebay for $144 shipped! I made an offer at $160 which was accepted, and I had a 10% off coupon through ebay. Score!

Very cool! I was able to get mine for $175 directly from them... no shipping required...

As for the size, it's only that big because it has an internal resonator. I'm quite confident everyone would/will love the sound in person...

Still need to fulfill some video requests...

I have mine in-hand and I tell ya, I thought it'd be bigger from looking at the images. The PV1 must be really small. The Aero probably has stainless packing to protect the fiberglass or ceramic packing (whatever Aero uses).

So how loud is this thing in-cabin? I have to tell ya, it looks like it'll be noisy. I just want to avoid the droning.

My in cab noise isn't anymore than my Tires, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised Only Droning you'll get is when you're next to another car with a louder exhaust and your two noises resonate... It's weird.

haha glad im not the only one who experienced that phenomenon

with the PV2 i get some droning around 1800 rpms when the engine is under load.. very subtle changes in throttle position cure it quickly.. at 60 its audible.. on the verge of annoying.. at 70 its not bad.. at 80 you can barely hear it over the wind noise/ AC.. if i have my music turned on i can only hear it under acceleration and very faintly at 60... of course i have 150SF of dynamat in my VX too

Dude, you have noisy tires. One hour and $90 later, my Aero Turbine 2525XL was installed. The installer, looking at the muffler, said "This thing's going to be loud." Eek.

Well, the first time he fired the VX up after the installation, I practically shat myself. And I was in the waiting room. With the work bay door closed. Oooh.

But I have to tell ya, pulling away, it was noisier than I was hoping, especially at lower revs, right around 2Krpm or a hair below. In other words, around town driving. Guys with stock stereos need not apply. Sean, send that sub enclosure quick!

I did get on it hard leaving the gym tonight to merge into traffic safely and at higher revs, it actually quieted down. I'm sure it killed my chances of improving my own single tank mileage record. Trying to beat 365. I didn't manage to get through a second tank before swapping it in but I'll keep good tabs on my mileage from here on out.

Overall, I'm a "hair" disappointed. If there's room, I may try to slide a small resonator in there to kill some of the drone at certain revs.

I have (or had) two other cars, a Mitsubishi Evo which I put a Fujitsubo RM01A exhaust (quietest made for that car) and an RX7 that'll shatter windows three miles away at wide open throttle and 8,000 rpm. I guess I'm getting old and want a quieter car these days.

But man, every time I start the VX up, my neck hairs stand on end. I even find myself shutting it off then starting her right back up. Just to hear the exhaust note.

    Crazy...

I guess YMMV... Mine is quiet... Did you watch the vids? I've listened from inside and outside the vehicle, and neither is bad. My Tires are a bit noisy on freeway, but around town you can't hear them.

    You're positive it's the 2525XL and not the 2525?

Big difference is the addition of a resonator.

Sorry if I was misleading in it's DB... I guess what I mean is IMO it is quiet Way quieter than a 4 Banger with Any after market exhaust.
