Midas or any of the above listed shops can install both a resonator and muffler and be as quiet as our factory mufflers. And if they can't find something quiet.
Go to a GM dealership and get a muffler for a colorado or something. Mufflers are basically universal, a good muffler shop should be able to install basically ANY muffler on our vehicles... we have a lot of room where the muffler sits.
Stop in a midas and talk with them for a few minutes... I'm sure the'll talk you through it![]()
I seem to recall an old thread where someone mentioned that a major chain they were trying to use indicated that it was illegal for them to install anything other than OEM.
I find it hard to believe but ???
You're much better off talking to some Yokels who can recommend a shop that is tailored to performance installs. (IMHO)

Put a smiley after you say that Bub.
Technically speaking in California the aftermarket muffler must have an CARB "EO" number or whatever to be legal.
But I believe they're the only state that requires that. Basically anything you do to your car in california that has anything to do with emissions control, or engine, needs that Number/stamp Including intakes, exhaust etc. etc.
But anywhere else I think you're A-OK...
i walked into a big chain place to get the PV done.. asked the guy if they did exhaust work.. he says yea.. i tell him i need a muffler put up.. he says itll be a few days to get the part... i told him i already had my own muffler... he said they couldnt install any customer parts
I'll name names here... I had the local Monroe install the Flowmaster muffler and chrome tip that I bought separately and brought in to them.
($200 for install and replacing the stock piping to 2.5" piping from the flange after the d/s oxygen sensor all the way back)
