    I'm not sure if I did the right thing or not, BUT, I had a local welder cut the lower hanging section off and weld in a plate up higher...net result...it now hangs no lower than the other plates/crossmember. He charged me $70. I'm still concerned with what you guys have experienced though.

    On the subject of skid plates and junk yards. Anyone remember what size bolts they are, or do you need to take your whole tool box with you?

    theyre 14 mm.. i needed a long flathead screwdriver because one of the nuts inside the cross member had come loose and was just spinning, i had to wedge a screwdriver in there to get the bolt out

    Ok, understand, only from the 93 to 2000 trooper, but was this a option or standard item on the troopers?

    i think they were standard.. most every trooper i have seen has had them
