New Style BFG Mud-Terrains not available?

So I talked to my guy down at Big-O about a month ago about getting the new style BFG M/Ts. He told me that BFG is not shipping any of the new style tires until the entire stock of the old style M/Ts is depleted (for each size).

I just called Big-O again and they are gonna see if they can get them for me. I also just checked TireRack.com and it seems they only have one size of the new style available, which means that most likely my guy at Big-O was telling the truth.

So it looks like I am stuck with ordering the old style. Which is ok, since I like those too, but....

Big-O just called me back and said they talked to their BFG rep directly, and he said that these tires do not even come in 265/75/R16.....

So I guess I should stop looking!

Yup, I don't think Big-O was giving me a line...they have no reason too. Anyway, so, now the real question is, do I go with 265/70/R16s or 265/75/R16s? How much of a difference with the 70 vs 75 make?

Use the tire calculator and it will tell you the size differance. I'm not sure off hand.

I don't like math, or calculators....

I'm sure the guys at the shop can give me an idea.

Scott Harness, you have BFG M/Ts, what size are your tires again? 70 or 75?

You will lose 0.52 of an inch in sidewall with the 70 series. The 75's are a 31.65inch tire and the 70's are a 30.61, so you are losing an inch of tire height.

since we have the same wheels...

    Bart,
i ran into this dilemma when getting my tires last year. You wouldn't think that *little* difference is much, but it (was) can be. I trimmed more than i thought i would with 265-70-16...

    but aren't you lifting??
    - you have to know what it is to know what it is -

Yes, so I should be fine with 75s, I think....

You're a hacker, you'll be fine! I am running 32.3" tires with offset 8.5" rims and the basic 912 lift. You won't have to hack near as much as I did.
