    Speakers...again

When a rear speaker went out, back in October, I adjusted the fade...resolved to fix them...and promptly forgot all about it. Now the drivers door speaker is buzzing:sighp:. Ok, ok, I'll do it (grumble grumble) 4...6.5's (with a little work in the back) correct? Shallow mounts in the rear? Same speakers front and rear? I'll dig up a Crutchfield catalog...and a credit card. Polks seem the easiest maybe. I'll take pictures.

    Hey,
    http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/a...r%2fMyCar.aspx
lets you plug in vehicle type (they DO have the VX!) and will propagate a list of components, speakers included, that fit without mods...

yea i did 6.5s front and rear, took some cutting of the rear mounts but they did fit, i used shallow mounts front and rear, but im going back and putting in full components in the front as soon as i finish fiberglassing the new tweeter pods

here are some photos of the 6.5s in the rear

    Chopper,
I installed four 6 1/2" Infinity Reference 6022si speakers, by enlarging the cut-out in the rear brackets as shown in Etlsport's pictures. The tweeters allow for a 3 db boost (selectable) for better imaging, and I like the mid-bass and bass performance. Also, these speakers are pretty efficient, and are a good choice if you're not amplified.

HookedOnTronics....over 80 bucks cheaper than Crutchfield, and free shipping. 125 bucks for four speakers at my door. Deal!

    Lightbulb

I think you'll be diggin' the Infiniti's, I used two of their panel units for my rears & they work great in conjunction with the RF's I used in the front.

Of course I couldn't do anything like a normal person would, so I mounted the Infinitis in small speaker boxes I had laying around & mounted them to the B pillars...poor speaker placement problem solved, & as a bonus, I didn't have to remove the rear interior panels.

And yes, my way is a bad idea if you have a back seat or are concerned with resale value.

Amen Dub! To bad more VX sellers don't think like we do. Value is what WE think it is.
