    Chi-Town/Midwest VXer convoy to Moab!

Because there isn't enough Moab hype on VX.info yet...

The Chicagoland VXers are heading West early on the 11th of May. We'll most likely drive straight through to Denver, spend the night, and then join the CoZuvoy '08 into Moab on the 12th. Who's in?

Will you be coming through Kansas City on I-70 West?

I am pretty sure we are all taking 80 out. It's 3 hours longer to take 70. I am sure we'll bump into you in Denver. Unless you want to drive the extra 184 miles and meet up in Omaha???

    Thumbs up

Looks like it is going to be VXIRONwoMAN, Petos, myself, and Jolly Roger VXer leaving the Chicadoland area late afternoon on Saturday, May 10th. The second day (Sunday the 11th) we plan to get to the Denver area, and (depending on how far we travel that first day) that will be much better than driving straight through in one day. Finish the ride into Moab by hooking up with the Colorado convoy, and let the party begin!!!

If you're stopping in Denver, I'd love to meet you all! I can't make the trip out to Moab, but I'm probably good for a round of find local brew.

Last year, everybody met up somewhere near Golden, if I recall. I missed that one. What are the plans for this year?

EDIT: I suppose This Thread pretty much answers my questions...

    Wink

Thanks everyone for the invitation to tag along.

According to MapQuest it should take me about 8 hrs. to be in Chicago. I'm planning on leaving no later than 6 a.m.EST Saturday (10th) and should be in Chicago by around say 2p.m. (not taking into consideration the timezone diff of 1 hour.)

    Hey, all,
Unfortunately, my friend has an urgent matter to address on Saturday night, so I cannot take off from Chicago at 14-00 with you. However, I would really love to go together, so we plan to take off very early on Sunday, between 4 and 5 a.m., and drive non-stop in effort to catch up with you guys (we will be taking turns so fatigue is not an issue)... Gill, can we maybe work out a time and place where we could catch up with the rest of the convoy on Sunday (echoing the Orion's question)?

    Thanks

    Thumbs up Sunday meeting place...

    Orion,
Looks like we will be stopping in Omaha, NE on Saturday night depending on how long Greg (Jolly Roger VXer) wants to stay on the road. We'd love to meet up with you on Sunday for the drive into Denver. I am PMing you my cell # so we can get in touch.

The Chi-Town convoy will be staying in the Denver area on Sunday evening. I have cousins out there that I see every time I make this trip, and Cece is meeting up with an old friend. Cece & pbkid are working on where to meet Monday morning for the big convoy into Moab... looks like it's going to be here ~> I-70 exit 259 Morrison at 7 am on the 12th.

I don't know how many VX's are getting together at this location, but it's going to be AWESOME!

Gil (or anyone else in the Chi-town convoy), you guys will be "picking" me up on Monday around mid-day in Glenwood Springs (it's about three to three and a half hours from Denver) at exit 116. If you guys leave Denver around 8am it should put you in my neck of the woods around lunch. Give me a call as you guys get close to Glenwood and I will make sure that I am there to greet you.

Can't wait to see everyone again/ meet some people for the first time.

do you have any type of CB on your rig yet?? might be easier to get reception on a CB in the canyon than on a cell phone....

We will be going the same route on the way back with planned stops at Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse monument (SD) for photo ops.

Man, the route from Reno is much simpler. I can't wait to meet up in Moab again! I was really hoping some Nor-Cal folks were going to join us out to Moab this year, but anyway...w00t!
