Installed yesterday morning after draining (oil change) - piece of cake. Of course I forgot to take pictures (it was a messier than usual oil change - the paper I used under the pan didn't absorb spills so I had goo all over the floor).

    And it is installed.......

I don't like that it ended up turned at that angle though.

Scary Side Story.....when I drained my oil only about a quart came out. I even jacked up the VX in various spots and never got much out. My dipstick never reads right, and really with the picture below that shows so little oil I doubt and engine could run on so little. The second picture is my new test NAPA syn. It was on sale for about $2 a bottle so i picked up 6.

Update....had a bit of drippage in the driveway today. Trust me it is on perfect. The instructions say to not overtighten too.

That "angle" looks about right, almost all I've installed or have seen installed on the VX are positioned with top of the valve oriented to the rear of the vehicle. I think that's a good thing as road grit won't constantly be sand-blasted into it. As for drippage, I usually take my shop rag and wipe it down real good and in the drain opening as well once done with the oil change.

Yeah there is not enough to blame the valve. As for the position, I think I like it for the same reasons. Its blocked from debris.

What is your take on the LOW oil that drained. That is honestly all of the oil that drained out.

What's your coolant look like? If you're losing oil through a small head gasket leak into the cooling galleries then your coolant will look like creamered coffee. That's one possibility you certainly want to mark off the list!
