A rear facing scoop will blow hot engine air into toward you interior-air intake at the base of the windshield, making it hot and stinky inside. On the other hand, it will suck hot air out of the engine bay while running, drawing more air through the grill.

A forward-facing scoop will force cooler air into the engine bay while running.

Neither would do much at idle, I think.

I'm considering a small one on the front left corner of the hood to feed the air filter (if I go cone). I have to get the hood repainted, so why not do it then?

HA...speak for your own bad smelling engine... mine has the smell of rose petals with just a hint of lilac & magnolia blossoms at idle.

OK, seriously...I've noticed no difference in cabin smellocity since doing this, but, by comparison, I am a few years older than most around here & have been a smoker most of my life...so it stands to reason that I may not notice as much.

BUT...on the other side of the coin, I'll be all over any fuel leak that may occur !

I'm thinking about going down this route with that C/F hood I picked up last December. The scoop is a perfect location to do open air filter with a heat shield mod. plus the exhaust vents in the center...I just need to figure out how to keep the rain out... not that it rains in Vegas!!! (actually rained the past week)...

With the VX an off center scoop looks nice in my opinion...

while all these look very cool I am planning a transmission cooler instead of a scoop. I just can't bear to give my VX unnecesary cosmetic surgery

im with u circmand... i dont think i could cut up my hood... the scoop is for my buddy's jeep cherokee... he was gonna come offroading at the next vx meet but when he sits idle his wt regularly hits 250+ and underhood temps (intake temp) gets up over 200... no place to put an extra fan.. so he wanted to try a cowl scoop to let the air out
