    new light rack!

thanks to LDUB and Zeus i got to work on my light rack i had halfway finished months and months ago.. lowered the lights down off the top of the rack, the whole light bar comes off quickly with (2) 3/8" bolts so i dont have to leave them on if i dont need em

i used two 1" aluminum square tubes, mounted to my crossbars using yakima round bar mounts (ive got a round bar roof rack) they tubes protrude out past the basket about 2" and the light bar is all one piece bolted to the protruding tubes

    Cool

That looks great...ought to throw some lumens downrange !

However, it looks like you should take her out tonight & adjust them down a bit...the way they sit now, it looks like you're shining airplanes or UFO's.

    Nice work !

thanks guys! lol ldub my vx was trying to signal home, thats why the lights are pointed up... the light rack itself is from my old basket, so ill be making some minor adjustments to it still (cutting the "wings" off of the side for one and probably rounding the edges to give it a nicer shape) so once thats all done ill do the "final" adjustment and get the light patterns right

knigh7s.. did you ever build your light rack? i remember awhile ago you mentioned wanting to build a motorized one

here is another shot of the new one and a pic of my old rack for comparison

That is such a great improvement over your original mount! Good job. Bart is mounting up some rack lights too - it must be the hip new fad!

    Looks good, but.... one comment....

It appears that you will be lighting up the trees above you. May be a bad angle, but I think they are angled a bit skyward.

    Perhaps the pics are pre-adjustment....

    Eric,

Light bar looks great. I don't do any night time off road so won't be doing that mod myself. Besides, here in Virginia, I'd have to keep covers on them any time the tires touch asphalt.

BTW, I edited my last entry on the hood scoop thread with more info.

Don, Those light wings don't look very sturdy. Any experience to say if they would hold up to off road use?
