I try to never allow anyone else to touch my vehicles, for exactly those reasons. I replaced my bearings pretty early on, because when I went in to repack them with Mobil one (about 1500mi. on the clock) I found the stockers, dry, and rusty! Did it the old fashioned way, and didn't mess with a fish scale. There's a bunch of forgiveness in the bearing preload. A torque wrench is just fine.

Ok, thanks Chopper. The akwardness of pulling an electronic "fish" scale on a stud and trying to be consistent with catching a reading at the moment of movement was exasperating. Every stud on the hub read a little different anyways, no matter how many times done.

I wonder why they don't just tell you a torque reading (to use) from the hub nut, it seems that would be easier?
