    Cool Got the new wheels!!!!

Well, while I was in LA for a convention, I left my VX in a shop back home to have it's new loafers put on. I finally landed some Enkei RT6 18x8.5's and had them mounted on my Yokohama 285x60x18's. I am VERY pleased with the appearance. Here are a few links to pics of it NOW.

Wow! Those wheels look fantastic. They put the tire just past the cladding giving it that bulldog stance. Lookin'good!

    Very nice choice.
Hey I may snag them stockers off you if no one else does.
BTW never got that stock H/Unit so you can have the cd changer back or I'll just pass it on.

I may already have a buyer for the stocks, but if it falls through somehow, I will let you know. Cause I know just how bad you want to sell your VX SCUDD.

Man those rims look great. I really love the yoko's! Did you have trim any of the cladding?

Great pictures.....not as good as some of the ones from the show but close.

    Wormgod,

Congratulations on your new additions. They do look great.

After admiring your tires at our little mini meet at Hooters I asked my father to go on the hunt for the best prices on tires (he had already offered--I wouldn't impose on him for that kind of stuff). I asked him to get prices on Nitto grappler (285 60R 18), Yokohama AVS (265 and 285 60 R18), Pirelli Scorpion Zero's (255 and 285 60 R18) and OEM Bridgestone (245 60 R18). Dad is supposed to get back with me this week. You have the Yokohama AVS 285 60 R 18, right?

Anyway, doing my research I came across UTQG specifications for treadwear, traction, and temperature and was specifically interested in treadwear. Nitto's have a 500 rating, Yokohama's have a 320 rating and I couldn't find a rating for Pirelli's. The Bridgestone's have a rating of 180 providing the softest and most wearing of the ones I have data for. Does anyone know Pirelli's number or have an indication of how they compare?

Anyway, I'll probably go with the cheapest but am curious (as are many others, I'm sure).

You have no idea how much trim work was done. It doesnt look bad at all though. With a deeper dished rim and the taller tires already on there, I had to trim the front and the rear of the front wheel wells. They guys at the shop know my VX VERY well and did most of the trimming for me. All I did was clean up any rough edges with a sharp exacto. Looks pretty good and nobody would notice if they didnt know what to look for. The rear of the well cuts were more tricky since it involved the lower inner cladding and the well inserts. I plan on molding some plastic to cover the opening that the cut created in there.

In all, even at 85 mph on the highway, it ran beautifully. What a smooth ride!! Its smoother with these wheels than the stocks strangely enough. I am sure it has a lot to do with the balancing, but like I said, the guys at my local shop love working on my VX and know it well. I am VERY pleased with these Enkeis.
