Smile My VX lost weight and got a tan...for Moab!

    Just in time for Moab!

I've removed the rear seat, which was HEAVIER than I'd realized. I'll want the extra room back there for my dogs and my travel junk. A lighter VX gets better mileage, right? I'm also removing the Thule roof rack, for aerodynamic reasons. I won't be needing it for the cross-country drive.

Then I added some weight BACK (although not much) by installing a front skid plate (thanks, Ron, for finally getting it to me!), popping in the WeatherTech side window deflectors, and adding some DARK window tint.

My VX may not be as stealthy as Bart's, but it's pretty darned dark now. I think this is a vehicle that, say, a choosy person like Darth Vader might drive.

But...but...my VX is almost finished! I don't know what else I can do for it! I mean, after I get some black diamond-plate rubber matting cut to fit the cargo area. Then what?!?!?!?

Angry PS: what's up with gas prices ???

It's gonna be a lonnnnnnnnng drive from Seattle to Moab and back. With a variety of oil refineries breaking down, and now gas trucks exploding all over San Francisco's highways, I can only imagine how awful my fuel expenditure is going to be for this round-trip. Boo hoo for me.

All I can say is, I'd better have LOT of fun. Serious fun. ***-kicking, take-no-prisoners fun. There'd better be some toplessness and more than a little booze involved. MAYBE some friendly police presence, but only so they can be cool and let me off with a warning, "...just this time." That way the story will be more interesting.

Music and laughter. Perfect sunsets. Red meat, because I can't imagine finding good sushi in Utah. Not in the desert, anyway.

    Who's with me?

    Thumbs up

Where ya gonna keep your full size spare ? Also, you might want to check Anitas gallery to see what Moab will do to one of Ron's "skid plates"...they were designed to look good, that's it.

BTW, you'll have mucho fun in Moab, no shortage of red meat there.

I'll be coming from Fargo, burning premium, you'll get no sympathy from me ...but, yeah, lower gas prices would be appreciated.

    I nominate Kenny...

    Or Ldub...

Either way, I will need a lot of booze for that show...

OH SNAP! Sorry guys, I took the day off to work on the VX and started drinking about 2pm. feelin' pretty good i must say.

The only way i see you *not* having fun is if your VX careens down a cliff side and bursts into flames. Sans that happening, you won't regret the gas bill...

    See you there!

Unless you bring copious amounts of hi-grade sedatives, & as much alcohol as you can fit in your VX....YOU DON'T WANNA SEE ME TOPLESS !!!

Seriously, I bring a lot to the table, tool & spare parts wise, but re-attaching retinas is a little out of my range of experience.

My VX lost weight too! Of course, it is 2wd now though... I took out the front axle assembly again finally! And if I do attend the ZuZoo it might be just to catch a buzz for one night with some fellow VX'ers because my ZEUS might still be 2wd then.

Yeah, you better bring me a bottle of that Easy Street. And now that we are on the subject, does Moab have a decent liqour store?

Yes, but it closes early (like 8 or 9) and beer is kind of expensive... I always bring mine, my cooler holds about 98 cans + ice... : )

Yeah, I was just thinking, since I will be camping at Great Basin National Park and there is no alcohol allowed there. But then again, they probably won't search my VX, hopefully.

If you're bringing a full size spare, then guess where you hide your beer........

Also, Utah=weak as he!! beer, I think they have a cap on the alcohol content, so it's definitely advisable to bring your own unless you want to be pissing every five minutes with a buzz nowhere in sight.

You can buy full strength at the liquor store, again expensive and crappy hours. Zax pizza is my favorite.. they have a bar, but only like 3 of their beers are full strength (pacifico being one of them), the liquor is all good though. I'm a beer drinker though... moab brewery, brews only 3.2 btw... good food, but weak beer.

So I'm starting to think I should make a serious beer run on my way down south...say, Oregon or Idaho somewhere. That way I won't have to worry about it when I reach Utah.

    Mmmmmm.....beer......

Yeah, I guess I had better bring a 12ver of Blue Moon and some wine for the wife.
