Okay, I really hope this is not a glitch...
Got an email from them last night, and they mentioned this about the deal:
"Also i want to mention that this price is for lenses only, but we can make some housings too, it usually doubles the price."
Do we need the housing too? I haven't taken my lenses off to check things out, but we would still only need the lenses, wouldn't we?
"The price of smoked or colored lenses adds 5-10$ per set. Shipping is extra."
That's not bad, in my opinion. And I expected shipping.
When more get's said and planned, we can start dealing prices a bit.
Is anyone's interest changed by any of this?
I'm still 100% in for 2 sets at this price.
But yeah, we do need to find out what they mean by "housing".

Well, I may be a cynic, but I sort of figured that the price would start creeping upwards. Let me quote my first post in this thread:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"If you think they can KEEP it at $40-$50 shipped, I'm definitely in.
If it creeps up to $80 with a $20 shipping/handling fee, than I'm sort of out.
Fifty bucks seems like a good overall comfort level."

Guys, bottom line, we're talking about a couple of pieces of plastic here. If this company wants to BOOST the price now that we've pretty much guaranteed 30 or 40 or 50 orders, that just starts to sound greedy.
Sorry; I don't mean to sound negative. I'm just disappointed.
OEM roof rack, Thule Xpedition 696 rack, Rancho RS9000 shocks, OME 913 coil springs, 3" lift, American Racing Teflon Chambers wheels, Yokohama Geolandar HT/S G051 tires (275/70/16), Energy Suspension greaseable bushings, steel-braided Kevlar-reinforced brake lines, WeatherTech wind deflectors, Malibu 18w driving lights, Plasma SuperWhite 100w headlights, NGK Iridium plugs, K&N drop-in air filter, Optima Red Top, Psychos2 rear-door subwoofer enclosure w/CDT Audio 10" sub, Blaupunkt subwoofer amp, iPod Video 80GB, Kenwood KVT-617 DVD head unit w/7" motorized touch-screen, Kenwood GPS HD navigation module, Kenwood iPod adapter, Kenwood back-up camera, Sirius radio, Flowmaster Extreme Off-Road muffler (black diamond-plate steel) w/ carbon fiber tip, Ford Taurus OEM cup-holder/coin tray (single-DIN/lower bay), personalized license plate "ORBITAL", 3M window tint, debadged, removed rear seat, custom 'radiation symbol' side magnetic signs, VX Concepts front skid plate
I don't blame you for taking it this way however,Originally Posted by PHO2GR4
It didn't sound as if it was a neccesity, just something extra they were capable of adding to it. Like I said, I haven't taken my lenses off yet to check things out but I would imagine the lenses just being all we need to replace.
I also told them that if they "forgot" to mention the extra details that could inflate their original guestimate, that they should expect to see quite a few of the requests retracted. I told them that we would like very much to have these produced, but that we're giving them a business opportunity in submitting such a request.
I have not heard back from them yet today, I will update again when I do.
keep'em crossed...
Well I will still be interested if the original deal comes about. I am not concerned with getting the housing, as long as it is something we don’t need to replace. My participation will depend on the final outcome. 50ish dollars for a set of clears is what I would be in for, two sets at that price.
Is there a way to get a sample? I kind of don’t want something that I will be disappointed in. Ron's clear fronts don’t seal and are flimsy, for the price they are OK by me, but anything more expensive like these are looking to be had better be satisfying.
Hey Cyronman,
My previous message reads like I was a bit PO'd, so I just wanted to clarify that I really respect the time and effort you are putting into this project! I'm disappointed in that COMPANY'S pricing model, but that's all.
I think that it could be a cool product, and I certainly hope it all works out. Again, thanks for taking point on this!
i have taken them off to add Tone's sidemarker kit and install bulbs. the side marker is one piece (lens and housing).
don't know how you could separate them, to add the clear lens only. i suppose someone could figure a way to do it. however, i'd be concerned with getting it right.
i was tempted to purchase Ron's, when available. unfortunately, there was an issue with separation of the lens and housing and he has made them unavailable till he got it right.
$50 seemed low. that's probably fair for the lens, if one is willing to pay that amount. their new price reflects the 'whole' piece. with the amount of orders, he may reconsider the price. who knows.

No harm, I didn't take it the wrong way.Originally Posted by PHO2GR4

These were my feelings exactly. For ~$50 though I was willing to try them out blind. I asked and they said they didn't really have samples to send out, but maybe they can send out a single lens, a throwaway maybe, as collateral when we send our pair in for the mold. Then they can get an idea of the price, and we can get an idea of the quality. I'll ask.Originally Posted by CrnCnn
Cool. Thanks for doing the work on this. I am sure everyone appreciates it, whether it works out or not.Originally Posted by cyronman
