    Factory CD Changer Wiring

Does anyone know which wires leading from the CD changer to the head unit are the audio outputs? I want to interupt the audio output from the CD changer (thereby audio inputs to the head unit) with a switch and then install a 3.5mm jack for my MP3 player. Knowing the audio output wires will save a lot of trial and error.

    Thanks,

Jason, I just copied the sound system circuit schematic out of the electrical manual if you want me to email it to you, or I could send the whole manual if you want it, it's about 15 meg, if your server take it?

Did you ever get what you needed on this? I'm considering reverse-engineering it with the test station and oscope for a Car PC project, but a diagram would be way easier.

    Rowhard,

Is that electrical manual on the CD that Tone provides?

Henry, not sure. But since my last posting on the subject, Scott has uploaded the 1999 Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for all to enjoy along with the 2000 Workshop Manual. Uncle Asa sent it to me and I forwarded on to Scott.

    Tobert,

No, I never did get what I needed. The wiring diagram in the manual wasn't much help either. Any chance you've figured it out?

    Thanks,

Why re-engineer the wheel? Just get an interface adapter and plumb your input wherever you like. PIE makes some great adapters and now have a triple input adapter that simply fits in between the radio and changer: Triple Input Auxiliary Adapter

You'll need to use the Toyota cable as there isn't a specific Isuzu cable: TRIPLE INPUT AUXILIARY INTERFACE TOYOTA

Over 20 years of Isuzu enjoyment...

    Nate and Joe Black,

Do either of you use an MP3 player through the auxiliary input adapter. There is a mention in the description that mentions the ouput of some devices is too low and can cause hissing, requiring a line driver to put signal.
Did either of you have any issue with this?

    Thanks,

Hopefully Nate will pop on and answer as I'm using a Sony single-disc head unit and replaced my factory changer with the storage cubby. Having the ability to read MP3's from disc negates the need for a changer pretty much, but then again I rarely listen to discs due to satellite radio.
