the vx is surprisingly good at holding things under its hood.. when i took my front cladding off and realized that there was nothing to hold the front two screws in place anymore, i set them down on the top of the frame infront of the radiator.. drove up to the store to get something.. dont remember what.. on the way home got that sinking feeling and realized it.. they were still sitting there when i got back! (and the roads around me SUCK) also while changing my battery a couple months ago i found a set of allen wrenches next to the battery holder just chillin.. they werent mine, and im the only one who gets to play under my VX's hood.. so they had been there at least 9 months

Allen wrenches...that's funny. Talk about throwing a monkey wrench into it...

I had to replace my headlights too earlier in the trip, and I found a business card deep down in the bay. I don't know how that thing stayed in there.

I feel your pain but give you props for being man anuff tjo admit your stupid human trick much like my front differential fluid change where I stuff the Mobil One bottle in filler with blue cap adn it decided to stay in differential. I am still obsessed with fact that it is still in there getting ground up. Atleast your isssue did not damage and required only clean up..

Thanks man. Trust me, I'll be the first to admit that I make mistakes, just like everyone. I made a big mistake with my Xterra and it cost me a perfectly good, paid off vehicle. I will let this happen with my VX!

a couple of years back, i was putting a new transmission in my hooptie van. being tight spaces, and dirty and what not, i took my wedding ring off, (i hear those collective "oh no's already) and sat the ring on the "step" on the side ground effects panel. so i spend most the night working away, get it all in, clean up, and drive about 20 miles from the shop to home. this drive is over the river, thru the woods, bumps, turns and everything else. everyone is in bed, i shower, and hop in bed, kiss the wife goodnight, and close my eyes, while trying to go to sleep, i start going over the project, thinking if theres anything i left out, tools put away, etc. AND THEN IT HITS ME!!!! I bound out of bed, make a mad dash in my underwear out to the driveway, and there, sitting on the step of the van less than 2 inches from the edge, was my ring. sheww, i still taste a little vomit in my mouth when i think about it!!!

    WOW!

I don't know if you can imagine how much trouble this would get you in, but it's more than that.
In Iraq, when we got back from missions we had to go straight to the fuel points to fill up. One time, I can't recall why, I put my weapon on top of the humvee when I got out. We didn't go straight back to the motorpool either, we drove all over base for a good 30 minutes. We pull up at a chow hall and as I'm adjusting my uniform to go in and go to grap my weapon, my stomach
D R O P S. I'm totally freaking and I tell me crew why. Then my gunner is like, "it's right up here where you just put it. You did JUST put it there, didn't you?"
Plain daylight too. . . I don't know how I lucked out of that one.
