    WRC '07 season kickoff

The World Rally Championship kicks off today in Monte Carlo, or was supposed to. Spectators apparently don't have the intelligence to STAY OFF OF THE COURSE so shakedowns were cancelled. But, it will get going sooner or later. I completely look forward to it getting on a roll. I only wish it were televised on Speed Channel or something. Until that day happens, I will have to just use WRC LIVE and get up the minute info and standings.

Yeah, it's pretty damn annoying that no one is carrying the races on television over here.

Did they stop showing it now? I think it was on last year here on the speed channel. I LOVE THAT STUFF! I would love to be a driver in the event but holy crap would I lose, or roll LOL. And since when did people get off the track? It seems they like to treat the rally cars as bulls and wait till the last split second to jump out of the way, those observers are nuts!

Speed Channel isn't carrying WRC this year. They had to make way for more sprint car and NASCAR races, as well as pointless tuning shows.

Speed, the NASCAR Channel, that is their logo isn't it!

Haven't gotten my annual dose of the Aussie V8 supercar series either, the DTM's and BTCC has been entertaining and only 58 days, 6 hours and some minutes till the F1 season kicks off.

Well, with no TV coverage, about as close as we get out here is the Pike's Peak Hill Climb. Better than a kick in the plums...

    Thumbs down

Unfortunately as a nation we're a bunch of "bubbas" when it comes to motorsports, and apparently the annual sales of NASCAR bobble-heads exceeds the entire budget of the WRC program. So that's why we don't get to see much real racing.

They should do a reality show where the plop an unsuspecting NASCAR driver in a rally car 1 minute before starting a special stage. Ego implosion!

Think outside the oval, just say "No!" to NASCAR.

Ya, I did a LOT of crying over the weekend. Hot water heater blew up and with the ice storm (only pu55ies call them storms) I couldnt get anyone out to my house for the last 2 days to stick a new one in. Sure, I can do it myself, but if I did, my appliance warranty will not cover it. :|

So, Since I was stuck inside all weekend messing with the cleanup and taking cold showers, I scanned the intarwebbs for Monte Carlo footage. I found all sorts of great stuff from youtube before it all got yanked. The new Citroen is TEARING IT UP!!! Looks like a Focus hatchback that was inbred with a Jetta, but it's still eating up everything out there. Subaru is really disappointing me. They keep blaming the car and especially the tires, but after the '06 season, it just might be the drivers that are flawed. Atkinson and Solberg need to get it together.

As for Speed Channel, it's funny cause knowing that they werent showing WRC, I flipped to the channel for the heck of it. And wouldnt ya know it.... they were showing a VERY repeat race from NASCAR '06. Fricking losers. I also checke dout some of the other extreme sports channels like FUEL, but apparently skateboarding and live car auctions are far more important than any LIVE WRC racing.

Ah well, as long as Bubba is happy....
