    Talking What VX inspires you?

We all have a very special breed of vehicle, unique to the bone. But there are a few VXs on this forum that really inspire me and have done so even back when I was just a lurker. With all the mods and lengths most of us go through to put those personal touches on our VXs to make them even more unique, its had me thinking for a while now What VXs out there inspire other VXers?

So tell me, if you had to pick one VX from this family that really inspires you (besides your own) and has influenced your own VX in some way share who is it?

    Ill go first:

BaM*BaMs VX. Not over done, not under done just right for my taste! I love this shot!:

Before I got my VX, I had Wormgod's Ebony as my wallpaper for 6 months.
(Don't know how to insert his pic, or I would.)

I always liked Rons setup from way back. Subtle styling. Maybe it's the wheels though, because I like BAM BAM's setup too. Those wheels just seem to be made for the VX. So call me a copycat, but I've also got a set of the Borbets, and am just trying to decide which tires to go with.

Has BAM BAM ever listed what type of lift and tire size was needed to achieve that look? I think I've searched before but never turned up any specifics.

Ron's past setup, and one that motivated my VX purchase.

Each of them keep me inspired, I couldnt narrow it down to one. Everyone here seems to have their own little flare and I hope my imagination(fueled by income) can help me make something unique to mine someday. I appreciate all the styles. I lean towards the lifted with larger tires side.

    My favorite

I love them all, but Moon Buggy's down in Brisbane Australia with those 3 inch custom polished alloy bar's, front, back, and sides that he had made are just so F'ing cool, and with those 20 inch wheels, WOW! Good thing he is on a different continent, he might come out to his beloved VX and find them gone!!..

Guess I will have to try and find a shop to make some for me from his photo's.

    Thumbs up

I'll have to vote for Bart's "Gas Mask Express".

When I was shopping for a successor to my '99 Ironman, I was checking out any and all VXs. I saw some tantalizing Protons, FireFox Reds and Dragon Greens.

But when I saw Bart's photos of his ride, with those Teflon Chambers...well, that did it for me.

I went out and bought an Ebony, and I've already ordered (with Bart's blessing!) some Teflon Chambers for myself.

I'd also like to give a shout-out to Tone Monday, whose enthusiasm for the Vehicross really inspired me with BOTH of my VXs.

Thanks man! Then I guess you should know it was Daver's ride that made me say, "oh snap, I gotta pimp my ride like that!" I even got the same tires

    Bart

PS - After I bought my VX, I tried for a few weeks to locate those rims he has, but it never happened. Now I have the AR Chambers, which I like even more.

I'm with Bart, Daver's pic was my wallpaper and that all black look sold me in less than a second. I had to have one.. a month later, I did. - I also tried to find the black OZ rims, but WormGod's Enkei's were a very close second.

It was also the awsome nature of this site that pushed me over the edge to get a VX and start the mods... Thanks guys.

Wow, great question. When i was looking for a new car in 99, I wanted something unique - something that wasnt common. I spotted an Astral in a dealership showroom went straight home and checked the Isuzu website. A Vehi-cross, such a strange name. Soon after that there was one of those car and driver shows on TV, featuring the VX. My decision was solidifying. Then I took a look at Edmunds.com and found there was a VX forum there! Tone, LisaK, Ron, Venusfly and a few others had posted there about their new 99 VX's. I contacted LisaK who lived just 20 minutes from me and asked her a bunch of questions about her VX. Soon after that the forum at VMag.com sprung up where more gathered. But I had made my decision the moment I saw that Astral. I went back to that dealership and test-drove an Ironman. The VX membership I found at Vmag helped me set the wheels in motion to order up my 2000. Many trucks and owners have inspired me through the years. Ron, Tone, George (NYCIronman), Daver, Scott(Moncha), Dave (Cyrk), Johnnyapollo, Joe Black, Ldub, Paul (senih laup), and Reg Hinnant, to name just a few.

Not to be a smartass, even though it comes so easily, but...Mine/Isuzu's. I've changed nothing you see...yet every time I look at it,something on it calls out to be enhanced...never changed, just amplified. In that, it is a piece of art. Something I'm very slow to change. Loath to take the torch to, even though it almost screams for it. Can I pick two? Bam*Bam's yes...mostly. And the one in my head. Wayne

I love the look of a wider and agressively treaded tire. Someone has a picture with some deep dish aluminum wheels (Not spokes), just solid wheels with small holes around and the look of beed locks. Also, SPAZZ has the only one I've seen so far with the wench inside the front cladding (Great use of space!!!). I'm not sure I could do any serious chopping on mine unless I have another one first. So, minor mods for now!
If you don't first THINK THINK, you could end up in deep DO DO!

    Wink

This is an excellent thread! Unfortunately, I cannot just pick one When I first started down the road of modding...the look I was wanting was what could be called the "Urban Assault Vehicle Look". The chief inspiration I found was Baxman's ride:

However, his wheel/tire combo had zero mm offset requiring more cutting & grinding then I wanted to do myself. Daver's @ 10mm was ideal. However, Baxman's "Nitro" American Racing wheels were not available in 10mm...so I bought the "Breaker" style American Racing Wheel in 12mm offset. Just before I purchased the BF Goodrich tires Baxman had, my brother (a huge BF fan!) told me about the new Bridgestone Revo's and how he thought for the street and my VX they would be a better choice AT tire for cornering & low noise. Been in love with them ever since!

As far as the engine compartment..Jayfotos's setup was the inspiration for me!

Finally, I keep looking at my stock wheels (sitting in the basement) with original Bridgestones that are well worn and might buy some Yokohama AVS tires as I really liked that look too which is because of MrTew:
