WormGod's was my biggest inspiration for getting a VX - I just loved the stance so I copied it. Then my Jeep side came out and that overruled street performance for slickrock performance. Now Jay Dunford's (sold) VX has the stance I am after and getting closer to. Here is his gallery (ignore the black bubble pics)...:

Well...having owned a VX for only 4 months, I can say that all of the pictures in this forum helped me to decide to buy one after being a guest visitor for 3 months. But...the single vehicle that convinced me to wait and get a Proton was Johnnyapollo's VX featured on his Vehicross Tribute web site.

    Thanks Henry!

I think Ron's (VehicrossConcepts) was a big influence on me - but then again it was BigMike's Proton that got me going down the mod trail - he also got me looking for the old ClubVMag board (progenitor to this one). Mike Pate turned out to be a good friend along with others I've met off here (Joe, Dave, Coop, Alex and Anita among others).

This is an excellent thread! Unfortunately, I cannot just pick one When I first started down the road of modding...the look I was wanting was what could be called the "Urban Assault Vehicle Look". The chief inspiration I found was Baxman's ride:

However, his wheel/tire combo had zero mm offset requiring more cutting & grinding then I wanted to do myself. Daver's @ 10mm was ideal. However, Baxman's "Nitro" American Racing wheels were not available in 10mm...so I bought the "Breaker" style American Racing Wheel in 12mm offset. Just before I purchased the BF Goodrich tires Baxman had, my brother (a huge BF fan!) told me about the new Bridgestone Revo's and how he thought for the street and my VX they would be a better choice AT tire for cornering & low noise. Been in love with them ever since!

As far as the engine compartment..Jayfotos's setup was the inspiration for me!

Finally, I keep looking at my stock wheels (sitting in the basement) with original Bridgestones that are well worn and might buy some Yokohama AVS tires as I really liked that look too which is because of MrTew:

My inspirations come from more than just the vehicle, but also the driver! I would have to pick 3
Grandpa Bob, Swordy and Todd Adams
All 3 VX's set up very nicely, all 3 are wheeled and all 3 are great people 9i'm sure everyone else who has met them will agree 100%) with vast knowledge of the trails and the capabilities of the VX.

I'm with Bart, Daver's pic was my wallpaper and that all black look sold me in less than a second. I had to have one.. a month later, I did. - I also tried to find the black OZ rims, but WormGod's Enkei's were a very close second.

It was also the awsome nature of this site that pushed me over the edge to get a VX and start the mods... Thanks guys.

Wow, great question. When i was looking for a new car in 99, I wanted something unique - something that wasnt common. I spotted an Astral in a dealership showroom went straight home and checked the Isuzu website. A Vehi-cross, such a strange name. Soon after that there was one of those car and driver shows on TV, featuring the VX. My decision was solidifying. Then I took a look at Edmunds.com and found there was a VX forum there! Tone, LisaK, Ron, Venusfly and a few others had posted there about their new 99 VX's. I contacted LisaK who lived just 20 minutes from me and asked her a bunch of questions about her VX. Soon after that the forum at VMag.com sprung up where more gathered. But I had made my decision the moment I saw that Astral. I went back to that dealership and test-drove an Ironman. The VX membership I found at Vmag helped me set the wheels in motion to order up my 2000. Many trucks and owners have inspired me through the years. Ron, Tone, George (NYCIronman), Daver, Scott(Moncha), Dave (Cyrk), Johnnyapollo, Joe Black, Ldub, Paul (senih laup), and Reg Hinnant, to name just a few.

Two of my favorite VX's of all time (except my own, of course):

NYC #1 Ironman's (sold about a year ago)

I always liked this one because it was one the few highly modded Ironman models I've ever seen and it looks great. You can tell that A LOT of attention was paid to the small details, like every lens is either clear or smoked. Not underdone, and not overdone. Perfect!

I couldn't find a picture of the other one because I can't remember whose it was - but it was a proton with a really awesome audio system with three subs in a fiberglass enclosure in the rear and proton yellow painted interior panels. There was only one like it, so I'm sure someone can refresh my memory.

An honerable mention goes to LDUB (even though you've only been around the last couple of years, you've done a helluva job!)

And there have been tons of other VXer's with skills in one area or another who have impressed me over the years. Let me take a moment to thank EVERYONE for their inspiration and support over the years. Thanks!!!

    Thumbs up

This one took a LOT of thought for me, as there are so many, & I know I've left some out...

TONE, Transio, Destruction, JoFotoz, Cyrk, JollyRoger VX'er, Kpaske, M.Beach, Grampa Bob, Triathalete, WormGod, Joe Black, Jayphotoz, Biju, Nocturnal VX...the list could go on, but at this time of morning, probably not.

Thanks to all mentioned & unmentioned (if you see one of your ideas used on my ride, thank yourself.)

Wow, I am honored to see that my VX is an inspiration to a few of you. But, I must ask.... which one....

    ....or....

Hehehehehe.... (sorry, I just LOVE to flash that nasty RIP Dragon Green as a reminder that these bad boys are extremely reliable!)

New super duper improved pics coming soon. MANY new additions and she looks insanely different.

I think everyone's VX is an inspiration to me. We all have our own mod preferences, from audio, video, performance, and visuals, and I love seeing everyone's handywork because it always gets me brainstorming and makes my wallet itchy. Keep up the great work EVERYONE!

    WormGod...
The 1st one inspires me to drive more defensively (outright paranoia ?)

The second one inspires me to wash-n-wax more often.
