I highly recommend Rancho RS9000 adjustable and put them on the softest setting (#1). I also bought the in-cabin remote control unit but never installed it. I'm not for or against it, just never took the time to do it and I don't plan to do much adjustment. If you're interested, PM me for a cheap price since it's just collecting dust right now.
Just buy a big ol' comfortable pillow for the passanger seat!![]()

I am curreently using Falken Tyre 265x50x20,and I think its not because of my tire.I tried to cut the rear stopper and replace the rear spring with volvo 960 spring ,cut the 2 coils to lower my rear to look even with the front n great looking now.I havent changed the shock yet..I remove the front rubber stopper..On the flat nice road seems ok,but on the hump ...huhh ..the rear back jumpy just after it passes the hump...So all friends here recomended Rancho 9000 ajustable .Thank you all,but dont you think changing the shock alone will not solve the total issue?I really dream to have a smooth less bumpy vehicross without pillow though.Is the rancho double action or single action ..anyone know the price n the correct tipe for the front n rear shock?thank you for attending to my problems in details..

Actually once I changed from R18 to R16 wheels the ride become more smooth. With R20 it would more bumpy.

RS99214 = Front
RS99215 = Rear
numbers come from Trooper listing that interchanges with the VX.
For a softer ride you can install Rodeo (or Amigo/Rodeo Sport) springs in the back, some comfy shocks (OME, Bilstein, etc) and 16" rims/tires. Springs should be easy to come by. I have a set that I'd be happy to get out of the basement, but anyone who's lifted a Rodeo has a set too. VX shocks are fairly stiff.
There are lots of options for shocks that will soften the ride. I'm partial to OME shocks but there are lots of other good choices. Going into things blind I might be tempted to get the Rancho 9000s just because you can adjust the firmness.
The comment on wheels/tires is related to the amount of sidewall. 18" tires have less sidewall than a comparable 16" tire. This means that there is less rubber to flex going over bumps. That's good for racing but bad for your kidneys. Maybe you can find a local 1999 VX driver who wants to just swap with you. You'll also find that 16" tires are cheaper too.
