    Rear suspention question..

On my 01 I noticed two "figure eight" looking pieces pf rubber and metal mounted to the underside of my cross. I assumed they were bump stops, but by the looks of it, (when I lowered the jack) they rest on top of the axle. I assumed that there would be some kind of clearance for the suspention to work- otherwise the shocks and springs do nothing except keep the body from flying into space. I seem to remember these mentioned in some threads about lowering or raising, but nothing about the position they should be in at rest. I've put CALMINI sways in years ago and the ride has always been a bit harsh, but maybe this isn't helping... Anyone???

The bump stop in question has been cut approximately in half by a good number of folks around here, softening the ride somewhat, especially when going over speed bumps.
I used a Japan saw, but a sawzall or similar, with a long enough blade works fine too.
I cut mine in place, others have dismounted them to do a cleaner job.

When you say cut in half, do you mean shortened or thinned? Cutting in half makes sense, as that may give some space for the suspension to work, but cutting lengthwise would work as well by weakening the stop effect (more mushy) allowing for a smoother ride. Im still sorta confused. could you give me just a little more help plz?

Hey, another Arizonan. I've considered the lift, and there is a sweet lifted Dark grey VX around here in the West valley that looks the shiz, but It would be for me just a look, as I don't get offroad much. I was about to tease about how warm I was working in the shade yesterday, I know alot of the VXrs in cooler places are limited by the weather......
