Hi, thanks for the reply, not sure what the going rate is, mines cracked so I need to weigh up repair against replacement....let me know thanks
doing a repair if it's the typical crack isn't that difficult and you'll end up with a better insert then just installing another one that will probably crack again.
If you have basic skills (can read the label) and equipment, (sandpaper, small fibre glas repair kit, glaze putty, can of primer and flat black paint spray can, rachet and right size socket) you could knock it out in a afternoon. :smack:
I have one, I am in south London. Not sure about the condition though, the car did have a front impact.
The cost of buying and shipping may well be more
than a body shop would charge..if you dont like the DIY approach.
The simple quick fix is tp grind a "V" notch into the insert along line of crack..
..then fill with body filler and sand/paint.
I have one thats lasted 5 years after this simple "fix it".

Although mine isn't damaged I was fed up with it looking dull all of the time so had a carbon fibre wrap put on it you could always 'mask' a home repair with something like that
I'm with David, repair and wrap:

Thanks all for the replies, agree that repairing would probably make a stronger part.
Didn't consider wrapping, how durable is that stuff....
Still all of those with parts to sell please let me know, so I can make an informed choice...RIP
It's quite good, mine was a carbon fibre wrap which was not done with not such good materials or labour but done properly can last for years. One thing you can do is easily change it to suit your current mood.
It is such an easy shape once removed I think I'll buy an expansive high quality wrap next time and do it myself.
Here's my spare one, unfortunately the paint is cracked, panel itself looks ok;

Probably no use to you with that crack. I'm planning to sand it down, epoxy a couple of hood scoops onto it, wrap it and them swap it onto my JDM, but don't know when I'll get to that.
Thanks for getting back to me....I think that possibly the best solution is to repair and wrap my current part, I'm guessing you can't buy new @ sensible money and as all vehicles now are approaching a good age all will exhibit same issues.
BTW the yellow car in the picture are you parting it out by any chance.
The hood panel on my JDM is still in good shape;

but it has been living in Ireland and mostly garaged, I suspect sun exposure is a big factor in the cracking.
Yeah, breaking it at the moment. Engine is now in my JDM, rear cladding (with US side markers) and front diff will be going on my JDM, the rest I will keep as spares or in case anyone else in the UK needs a part. Body shell will be going to the scrapyard, wife won't let me keep it (says it's an eyesore :). The current light bar on my JDM is surplus as well if you want one.Quote:
