The lower CD player on mine is never used and not hooked up. Any suggestions for something else that would fill that space if I took the CD player out? Has anyone ever tried some sort of pull out cup holder?

Cup holder/coin holder combo from a Ford Taurus will work...it has limited use due to the holder portion not coming out very far...it will hold a can, but not a bottle of soda or your favorite beverage.
Use the search function to find some info....
Is that because the pull-out hits the shifter?
Cubby/storage hole, power inverter, extra cig lighter for powering goodies, cb radio...
i would say put a cb in there
A oem option... The component cubbie in a 98-02 (I Think) Rodeo is a direct replacement.
A cup holder would be nice, but I thought with the shifter placement it wouldn't be much use. I will look into getting the cubbie insert from the Rodeo. Thanks!
I've got a duel cup holder in there, it works and the shifter really doesn't get in the way. (not like it's a manual transmission or anything)
I'll post a pic but it's probably the same one everyone else has from the Taurus.

beer tap

a universal cubby can be purchased for less than $5 at any car audio store or bestbuy - prob even walmart - i got mine for free when i bought a cheap cd player from crutchfield
I think I like the beer tap option! Now where to fit a keg?
I think the inverter is the more useful item to fit in there. I have a 700 watt and it fits perfect.
Claymore anti theft device!
Noctis, can you hook me up with the parts number of that cup holder. That is completely ideal.
