Back in the 80s ford made the escort EXP. they also made a small sport truck version of it, not unlike the Subaru brat. Does anyone recall what that truck was called? Thanks.

The Bratworst? Just guessing. I don't recall any other EXP models except the Ford and Mercury badge-engineered clone.
Very funny, but I know they existed. I saw one in a junkyard a year ago and now I want to find one.
Bantam?
Ford introduced the Ranger in 1983.
They made a specialty model called the STX...is that it?
They also made the Ford Ranchero (like the Chevy El Camino).
It's close to the bantam but it looks like an 82 escort exp with a bed like a brat. I dunno. It is cool though.
Maybe it was a custom job? I couldn't find any mention of it on any of Ford's sites, Wikipedia, or even Google Images.
i saw an 80's style ford festiva with a tiny bed on the back of it one time but i dont know i think the guy did it himself - you never know what you might find in a junk yard
Is this what you're looking for? It's an Explorer Sport Trac.

Sport trac! Yes you found it! ROFL
Haha. I guess it was custom. Must find a nice exp or maybe an xr4ti....
Are you sure it was a ford and not a dodge rampage?

Ha! That was it!!! Damn! I really thought it was an exp variant. You sir, get the gold star, I however, should be banned from the inter webs!
I have to admit that the only reason I thought of it is because someone near one of the schools I work at as 1 or 2 of them and I pass by there all the time. Always thought they looked cool. But, they were an 80's Chrysler so kept my distance.
Dodge was a weird beast in the 80s. I had a friend who had one of the later Dodge Conquests (rebadged Mitsubishi Starion) with the big turbo and 12 valve head, that thing hauled *** for it's day! I think it was pushing 200 hp, which was not shabby for 1988. And it didn't fall apart.
On the other hand my dad bought a 1984 Caravan, the first year they were made (the shame, and it's what I learned to drive in /facepalm). Other than being an underpowered pig - especially with 7 people touring in the Rockies - it got recalled 5 times in the first 2 years. One was a good one - they had to add a little plastic cap in front of the front brake calipers so that rocks from the road wouldn't jam your calipers open! Wheee!
What a POS that thing was.
V-dub made one too.
Eveyone made a ute at one time or another.
I drive that white El Camino when I feel like burning up some dinosaurs.
Perfect vehicle for someone like me....I almost NEVER have a passenger in my car.
In eleven years, I doubt. 6 people have ridden in that VX rt. side seat...the back seat came out the day I brought it home
Those things caught my eye at the time too. I don't know what it was about the Dodge Conquest TSi, but I really liked the overall look and relative performance. My older brother had once owned a Ford Thunderbird 4 cyl. Turbo Coupe so I had a pretty good idea how those engine/turbo configs could motorvate.
Here's a better looking Dodge Rampage

Bleah. Looks like a messed up Honda Ridgeline.
This is a better looking rampage

I had an '83 EXP, loved that car. I always thought the Rampage and the 024/Charger looked alot like it...a helluvalot better looking then most early '80s econoboxes!
Prize goes to Gizmo at the moment.

Okay, be nice. I happen to have both a slightly customized 1984 Dodge Rampage and a 1983 Plymouth Scamp (the Rampage's sister trucklet for all of one production year) that is partially tricked out as a Shelby variant. Not much oomph, but they always struck me as being baby El Caminos or Rancheros. :bgwb: I actually had a 1982 Rampage quite a few years ago as well. I'm still looking for a reasonably priced Suzuki X90 to complete my oddball car collection.
