id love to give it another go... ill try to get out there, especially if we have a good turnout
I'm putting this on my calender!
Did anyone check to see if that day falls on a run at Beaver Run? Do they even schedule them that far out?
Yeah, it says on the FJ site that it is their last one for the summer. I'm pretty sure this is an all weekend deal....whereas they have other ones leading up to this being only on 1 Saturday per month.
hmm, sounds interesting. Time to put the lockers and gears in I guess. No more excuses.
I'm looking forward to seeing you put those lockers to good use!
:bump:
One month to go. Anyone else interested?
Yeah, I was watching on the other board and they changed it to a three day event with night wheeling. I probably wont be camping out, but I will be there for Saturday!
I don't have the proper tires to do the run.otherwise it shall not be a problem. :(
Sorry to hear that. No full size spare?
When does everyone want to do this? They are running the 7,8, and 9 of August. In January they only ran on SUnday so we did Dinner Saturday night and then Sunday in the woods. I only really want to run one day, so what days is everyone else gonna do so i know which day to plan for.
I was thinking the same plan as last time. Dinner Sat Night and Beaverun on Sunday morning.
its not looking good for me :cryb:
So, Saturday or Sunday? It sounds like the Saturday runs are getting pretty full. I should be free either day, anybody have a preference???
I say we register for Saturday and see how it goes. I don't think anyone is traveling in for this one unless Etlsport has had a schedule change. Then we always have the option of going back on Sunday for more, or cleaning the trucks for the week.
I'm registered for Saturday morning. Guess we should get a headcount of who is coming. Can we turn some Maybes into Yes's???
I registered for saturday too. Why don't we plan on either a friday night at rock bottom, or do a saturday dinner after the day out somewhere inbetween. I am sure we can figure a place to eat afterwards.
Friday night @ rock bottom sounds good. It will give me a chance to pick your brains before heading out on Saturday. I guess it's time to finally get this thing dirty.
i would love to but just not sure if the vx will be ready by saturday, just waitn for my lift kit, got everything else rock sliders,305/70/16 mud grapplers on black 16x8" rebel rims. Cant wait to get her dirty:) But no YES, For sure yet? Let u kno by fri how i will be looking?
Did we decide on a time Friday night for Dinner?
Yea i would be coming from clifton, i have an update? Well iv been workin on the VX everyday now and i can say it would be possible for me to come on saturday. Not sure just yet i have two more critical things to do b4 that day, but 2morro hoping i can have the allignment done then for sure i will be their:) I will not miss another meet.
also can one of you guys give me the address to were you will be meeting up? Thanks
We are meeting for Dinner at the Rock Bottom at the water front in Pittsburgh: 171 E Bridge St Homestead, PA 15120 (412) 462-2739.
That is Friday night around 7:00, 6:30ish. You can't miss us in the parking lot. Keep in mind that is a 5 1/2 to 6 hour drive for you. The Saturday we are over at the Beaver Run Racetrack in the woods playing in the dirt. That is 45 min to an hour NW of Pittsburgh. BeaveRun MotorSports Complex 201 Penndale Road Wampum, PA 16157
You are more then welcome to join us. Saturdays off road run costs $40 or $45 dollars per car and driver, and $10 each additional passanger. I forget the actual price per vehicle.
Its a nicely led event where they have trail guides making sure all is well.
Thanks guys for a terrific time!
(I "almost" feel guilty about all the fun I had with all the Excessive Unsprung Rotational Weight and 2" of Lift that I'm sure will bring shame to my family for generations to come......ooops...wrong thread! Going to go to Confession to renounce those sins so I don't feel so...well for the lack of a better term...sinful.)
Not going to wash the VX for a couple of days (another sin!) as I don't have a pretty girl-friend like Crotchrocket to surprise me and do it for me...lol.
Can't wait 'til we all get together and do it again!
Later dudes
It was truly an exceelent adventure. Once my wife gets the pics downladed, I will post a link. She used up all 4 gigs of space on her camera before we finished crash(?) rock. Course, problem is she does not have 4 gigs of open hard drive space. Hmm, we will see.
She can feel free to "lose" the pics of me getting winched by the FJ if it will free up space. :naughty:
Seriously though, that was the most fun I've had driving the VX yet. On road was fun, but man I had no idea what these things could do off road pretty much stock. I will be heading out again soon.
The best quote of the day came early morning when I heard one of the old timer Jeep guys exclaim, "Lookit, here comes another one of them Moon Buggies!"
Off to the power washer to pretty up for Monday morning.
Already washed it twice, and it still needs a third one. Also need to get something to help the cladding, the back to black has finally washed all off.
LOL..... You're not really wheel'in if you haven't been @ the other end of one of those strap thingies...:p
You really seemed to shine though after you ate lunch! :p
Can't wait to see the pics!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be checking the FJ site for 'photobucket' links to see what they uploaded too and put the link here.
I had the VX out today and it got more attention dirty than it ever did clean...lol.
Pic's or it didn't happen...thats the rule!:bwgy:
Sounds like you guys had a great time.
I still haven't gotten around to washing mine from Moab!;eeky;Quote:

Here's one I snapped on my cell phone.

Stole some pics from the 4runner who posted them in the beaverun forum. I have put them in my picasa album and mine will follow eventually.

the first 5 pics are all of "Smash" rock, the last one is of PittVX going up a different hill. With the locker I never really stopped moving up the rock, while JollyRoger and PittVX had to a number of times, though they both got up. Its amazing what a stock VX can do. All of the stockish FJs that went through had rear E lockers.
Nice!...A couple of those pics really capture the "steep"...
I had '08 Moab red dust still under my hood on the sheet metal (don't have the insulation anymore...squirrel, maternal instints, nest...) right up to 2 weeks ago when I had my VX detailed to enter a 4X4 show & forgot to tell her it (the dust) was sacred & to leave it be :_crying:
One guy with a stock Jeep Grand Cherokee "tapped-out" and asked for his money back...guess his didn't have a "trail-rated" badge.... :)
Ryan...the downside to your driveline mods is now the pics of your rig are "blurred" because you take the obsticles so FAST! :)
****checked the FJ site today for photobucket pics....still none yet....
yeah, I know, oh well, maybe he should of signalled so I could have posed. I was amazed what the lockers really did offroad. kathryn still hasn't broken into our camera, she has been working on designing a patio I have to build for the house this fall, so as soon as we stop arguing about that she will get to them.
