Sundays Off Roading Pictures

Well it was the first time i went, but the VX did well. Main issues were road tyres and bugger all ground clearance, i bottomed out EVERYWHERE !!. Do you guys have guards under your VX's ?? I have geabox and diff guards, Not to worry though as i have new wheels tyres and suspension lift ready to be put on for next time!!!

So, since you last saw pictures i had a go at fixing the 'grey' cladding and getting it back to black and added some off roading bits. I also took the OEM mud guards off as they would have broken off in the first 5 minutes!!

Cool pic's!!! What kind (brand/model) of vehicle is that in your 2nd posting in picture 1 and 4 (looks like a small Japanese 4x4 with a brush guard and big meaty tires)???

Nice to have a LR Defender around for a quick tow. I also noticed that the majority of vehicles in the pictures commonly have "snorkal" air intakes for deep waterfording??? Here in the USA; air intake "snorkals" are not very common, and normally found only on more radically modified 4x4's. Lastly, nice lookin' girlfriend!!!

The guy was a right nutter, lol, he put dumper truck tyres on it and just drives them till they're dead!!

Everyone has a snorkle here! With tones of rain and lots of muddy trails its a good idea! We had a great time and can't wait to make the VX more capable so we can do more :D

CROTCHROCKET--- Thanx for the added "link" to the additional pictures. Looks like you guys have a lot of fun!!!

By the way, did you happen to check-out your other thread regarding "265, 275, 285" series tires??? I did some intensive research for you, and wanted to be sure you read it for your further consideration in tires for your 16x9 replacement rims???

I had highly recommended various sizes of the Yokohama "Geolander M/T"; and based upon what I see from your pictures here in this thread, they would be the perfect lightweight M/T tire for you!!! Riff Raff

That, or beaches, is what most of our 4 wheeling is like in Tassie.

By the way, in the first post, photo #4, was you actually in 4wd??

There is no way that my VX will spin a back wheel like that without also spinning both fronts, unless I was in 2wd only.

If you were in 4wd, then me thinkee you have a drive problem.

I notice the front wheels appear to have a different centre cap to standard. Are you fitted up with those terrible "auto" hubs??

In 4wd low, the VX should have walked through that stretch.

Some of the later ones were a bit more challenging. LOL

looks like a stock axle to me...

and the VX is limited slip, so the tire with the least resistence spins...

so really....very rarely do both of your front tires spin ;)

Sorry pbkid, but a limited slip diff is exactly what stops one wheel spinning freely.

If my VX is in 4wd low range, I can have one front wheel completely off the ground and it will not spin freely - there is always drive to both wheels.

USA spec VX's have limited slip REAR diffs, & open fronts.

If JDM's have limited slip fronts, It'll be the first I've heard of it...:_confused

ah i had it backwards, limited slip in the rear.... i just knew that in the front it was only one wheel spinning...i have definately tested that in the snow :cool:

Its a normal VX! the 4wd works fine, the other front wheel was definately spinning, the reason it was stuck is it was sat on its belly!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the standard diffs.
Looks like mine was modified by the PO.
He made a special point in the "for sale" advert about the front LSD.

I will try and contact him and see what was used.

Must say that I have been absolutely amazed at where this thing will go, and the power and traction it has off road.

Used it to pull a farm tractor out of the farm dam.
Old farmer was amazed that I got to his dam, little less pulling his tractor out.

Try some rocky terrain. That was my first VX off road experience, and I was amazed at the Dragon's capabilities!

lol, yep she's a good catch!! were going again in 2 weeks but with mud tyres and a suspension lift

yep!! overcast day in the woods = high vis jacket :rolleyes:
