Any have any suggestions as to what a high quality brake caliper spray paint is that will last and look good for a while and where i can get it. I am finally getting around to painting my calipers to match my car since they are more visable with my new rims. Thanks for helping in advance.
i just recieved a G2 kit in the mail today.. cant wait to try it out, ive heard nothing but good things from them, its brush on, not spray on
Just did mine a month ago. DO NOT USE VHT brand brake caliper paint. It is absolute garbage. The best stuff I have found is this stuff:

I think it runs around $8.00 a can, but it is well worth every penny. It is actually the best spraypaint I have ever used. It goes on so smooth and clean, that you will swear it is a gift from the heavens. I used it to coat my rifle barrel and my differential drop brackets for the VX. I wish I had used it on my brake calipers. I promise you will love this stuff. You will probably need a can or two, and expect it to be a PITA to get the factory coatings off of the calipers. I had to sandblast for quite awhile to clean them completely. Good luck.
I'll second the motion on Plasti-Kote products. I liked the finish of their caliper paint so well that I've also painted my lower links & tie rod ends with it.
I'll also be using it to make the red stripe around my spray on bra permanent.

For the painting part.. I did 3 coats. I did not mask, because I used both the included 'acid brush' and an el'cheapo Testor's model paint brush to get closer into the edge betwee the caliper and the pad...
Coat 1 - The first coat looked scary. With the cast texture, the valleys were red, but the peaks were silvery black looking. Basically, it looked red and dirty.
By the time I had finished coat one on the 4th caliper ... the first one was ready to start number 2 .. (15 mins minimum between coats)
Dont over paint! It WILL run and drip!
Coat 2 - Looked a LOT better. I got to fill in some spots that didnt cover up as well. Smooth out some drips. The real color was finally showing up nicely.
Coat 3 - WOW... got even smoother, brighter, extra shiny!
The manual said there was enough for 3 coats
(I think it was more like enough for 5!)
Its been about 4 weeks now, and it still looks wet.
I let it dry up on the lift for about 5 hours... came back, mounted the wheels.. drove 2 miles back home, barely touching the brakes... and let it sit until the next night.
They tell you to let it cure for 24 hours before driving.
Oh, there is a 'best used by' date on the box. The claim the kit has a shelf life of 6 months. When I spoke to someone at their office, the told me as long as the small bottle of reactor is still fluid, the kit is still good. Which was a relief because I had the kit in my basement on a shelf for about a year.

I got the '2nd generation' model 'big boy' style in black.
They were installed the same night as the brake caliper paint.

Oh, if I am stuck behind someone who is driving less than the speed limit, when I get a chance to pass them... I let up and hit the gas pedal a few time to make darn sure that they swing wildly at the offender!!!

This post is quite old and I wanted to know if G2 is still the way to go?
My VX is being painted right now and I thought it would be nice to go ahead and paint the calipers to proton yellow. I understand they will color match, but for those of you that used this product, has it lasted? Would you use it again?
I appreciate any input on what product to use for durability and color matching to proton yellow...

I bought some at napa, very bad results...I could not get it to stick, not even after 5 coats.
Oh I should clarify that it was just the rattlecans that I used NOT G2.
