How about an Ocala National Forest camping meet in late April or early May? Should still be cool and hopefully by then we'll have had enough rain to make the trails "interesting". ;)
Rock on, I should have my brakes done by then.. keep us posted please
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too! The Independent 4X4 stainless lines came in yesterday, so now I have all the parts, but I'm still looking for a used electric oven so I can get the powdercoating done on the calipers.
Do y'all want me to organize this, or would someone else like to take the helm?
u do it joe, that sounds awsome, but has to be some weekend in mid to late april, as in may i get married and then go to the honey moon and the 29th of may i leave for boot camp for the Coast Guard, so for may i'll be busy and after that i'll be gone for 2 months and my life gets even more busy. so if it's cool with u guys, in april is perfect for me, now i hope it's perfect for u guys 2. Thabk You Joe.
hey Fransico Rizzo, where in daytona do u live at, I go alot to new Smyrna beach to surf and i used to live there and my fiancee's parents live in Port Orange, so I'm there like almost every weekend.
Late May/April is pretty much the end of the good days, the black flies can get pretty evil after that. There are a few pretty good spots down in the Kissimee wilderness as well. Hey Joe, what happens if I show up in a 4 door Wrangler or a Plastic Fantastic FJ ? Are you still gonna let me play?
Only if I can drag you around with my M1028! :p
Are you kidding me, what a small world!. My Bro is a weekend warrior for you guys! He and I live in Orlando now.. do I need to update my profile maybe? He lived in New Smyrna and worked at pounce inlet for like 2 years full time.. but now he's tsa and school here. I went to ERAU and got my AeroSci (pilot junks).. when I wanted to apply USCG for a helo spot, they said I was an old man.. turned 27 in October . We might be coming into Daytona this weekend, maybe for a pre-game-micro-meet now. I'll pm you with my number. Congrats with the marriage and CG
as for the meet, I've never been camping! This is perfect if you guys go b/c my g/f and I are planning a trip with her fam coming up the next couple. I'm def interested and get weekends off here now. Let me know
thats crazy i worked at ponce for a few months at inlet harbor marina, carzy world bro. yeah i go to new smyrna all the time tyo go surf, i love surfing thats why i stuck to the Coast Guard, that way i can always get to surf. so where in orlando do u live now? i live on red bug road, between Oviedo and casselberry, i'm only 15 min... drive from downtown orlando if i take I4 and there is no traffic. 27 is not old, i think u can still join even if u are like 3o something years old, my older brother is 27 turning 28 next month. anyways i lived in new smyrna for a year only like a few months back and before that lived back here in orlando but i was born and lived In Costa Rica for 7 years, thats where i'm really from and my whole family. So i guess i have water, surf, mud and all tarrain vehicals in my blood, lol. well bro just pm me. thats awsome u are a pilot, 1 of my good friends is a pilot back in Costa Rica, he is a crazy Mother F****er. well are u pilots are. :p.
Well about the meet lets get this rolling, cuz i'm so in for it and i would love to meet all u guys and see what u guys have done to ur VX's, hopefuly by then i can have my Tod system working again, can't get that thing to work, all i have left is change the tires, and if that don't work, then i have to by new rear sensors. well I wrote enough, hope more will join in and come to this meet.
I'm in.....
depending on scheduling. :)
I'll have a date and info posted this evening. Thinking about the weekend of April 21st.
Cool. I hope I'm available when you guys decide.
Man...you want me to get 0177 DIRTY??? On purpose?? My buds huntin' 69 Bronco fits this bill. It's a true Fla vehicle; swamp cabbage cammo paint an all.
LOL! '69 Bronco would be cool, don't know about the doobie-flage though. :p I'm thinking about trailering the IronMan up with the M1028 so I can use my GeoLandar MT+ and also get to try out the M1028. We'll see, since it'll depend on being able to secure the trailer at the campsite.
The event is posted in the calendar, so check it often as I'll be updating with details for which campground for those camping and also where to meet Saturday at what time for the trails: Ocala Meet.
any1 else coming?
My girlfriend's birthday is that weekend, and she wants to go to cape cod.. then we're going camping with her fam the weekend after here in FL..
Do not fear, I'm currently working on a scheme to sabotage her plans.. this way I can go camping two weekends in a row.. I'll keep you guys updated.
I'd normally come down, but after seeing the pics from the last Ocala meet, think I'd rather not have to deal with all the mud - also I may be in New Mexico that weekend.

Wuss! :p Hey, you can ride with me in the M1028 and Kathy will drive the IronMan! Besides, we've been having a drought so the mud will be rare and optional.Quote:

But I'm trying to work it out.
That's it! I'm bringing a damn Jeep! I can scuff it up, and no one will care.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to bow out, and I'm not happy as I missed the last Isuzu get-together at ONF as well.
Basically, I got into my "big brake job" a weekend late and forgot to order new front wheel bearings and seals in time. So the IronMan is sitting at my shop with bare front spindles right now, and lots of shiny new brake parts looking forlorn for lack of bearings.
Also, my CUCV purchase went a bit awry recently and I have to go pick it up from Atlanta and the sooner the better. So Friday I'll be schlepping a trailer up there and back down again with 5K pounds of military diesel fury in tow. At least that's what it sounds like inside at 70MPH! LOL!
So I see Costie removed himself from the meet attendance, which leads me to believe it may be a dead meet. If y'all do go here's the trail maps: http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida/recr...OHV_maps.shtml
Several of the ONF campgrounds don't require reservations for tent campers (just ask any forest staff) and you can also camp just about anywhere in the forest. Do check in when you get there and be sure to ask current restrictions on camp fires. Hopefully they've eased with the little bit of rain we've had, but usually they keep a lid on it during drought like now.
