1997 Dodge Ram.
1998 Ford Mustang GT. (son's)
I am very interested in getting one. I have been for a long time. I think I'm ready to get one now, just bad timing with the economy. I would have to trade my Ram. So, if anyone's interested...
Yeah I saw your ad on craigslist. I think you will have a hard time of it relying on a trade. I might have sent you an email about my for sale VX. I strongly suspect you will have to sell the Ram first then buy. Welcome to the community, and good luck with your hunt.

My other car is an 89 Corvette that I recently completed a frame-on restoration of. It's not old enough to pull the body, but it did need paint, interior and an engine refresh. (It's only got 60k on the body...but age finally catches up with a vehicle after 20+yrs.)
For the engine, I decided to build my first (and possibly only) performance motor. I built it with appearance, MPG, and emissions in mind (not typical for the sports car, performance-building community).
For now, I'll just post a couple of pics of the motor -- as it was the most complicated part of the restoration. I knew very little about performance building, computer tuning, engine porting and polishing before I started this project....

^^^ Very Nice Build and by the looks of it I can tell your Vette has to be TOPS as well. Vette's aren't slime, they are just that, Vettes! Never Replicated and always remembered.
Time Attack Car? That's a new expression to me...sounds like it'll be fast enough to transcend the space/time continuum? :bwgy:
Either way, 700HP in any car has to be killer fast...probably into the 9's?
For shizzle, faster than mine. I'm at 440rwtq and 350 HP at 5k rpms. These long-runner intakes are torque monsters. (Torque peaks below 3500 rpms!) But still... not bad with my close-ratio 6-spd stick. Haven't run it for a time-slip...but it'll get to 60mph in about 4secs.
Very nice! LOL Time Attack is rather new to the scene as far as what it's become today. http://www.redlinetrackevents.com/ That is the major leader in Time Attack events.
You are correct. 700AWHP with about 550AWTQ (about what i'm aiming for with a 2.3L boosting at 40psi on C16) will break into the 9's with a good driver but it will be built for the curves :)

I have never raced a bike or tried to chase one so I do not know if it can keep up or not, maybe it can pass them I do not know. I do not have any problem with acceleration when it is over 80mph, but I do not have a real need to chirp the tires when I am going 80mph either.
Thank for the dash complement, the dash was a custom creation by my brother.
The car is a lot of fun and it is getting more body mods and is at the body shop now. With the engine, transmission, suspension and 13” brake swap it is similar to the C4 Corvette drive train and braking but with the Fieros slightly lighter weight and shorter wheel base, and a roomier interior (no trans in the middle of the car). I always like the Corvette power train set up but I liked the Fiero GT styling better so I combine them to get my dream car. This is defiantly not a car for most people but it works for me. I get the same kind of reaction on the Fiero as people have toward the VX some people love it and think it is super cool and some people hate it so both cars are right up my alley. As soon as I get a VX I will have two cars that have people asking “what is that?”

That wasn't my point. I have an 89 -- which came with the same intake/setup. There was only about 10hp difference stock between 86/89. After I found little difference between 250hp hondas, acuras, etc...and a Corvette -- at hwy speeds, I wasn't as happy with the car. As you point out, yours is lighter and that matters. But, it will still matter more at lower rpms.
I learned a couple of things while having "fun" with an Acura TL owner on the way to the golf-course one early Sunday. I learned why demand for late 70's and 80's C4 Corvette's isn't all that high. Those TPIs are great for low/mid rpms...just not for a HP number. (This isn't an insult -- as you'll see I still have the same type intake pictured a page/two earlier in this thread. I just decided to cam it and stroke it too.) Remember the VX is stroked too!
I think the C4 is one of the best platforms for kit cars and the TPI (or LT) ZF6 is a great transplant for today's economy needs. I wish I had a ZF6 TPI in my VX. The torque (acceleration) would be much better, as would the MPGs. In a 3.4k lb car, that 6-sp gets 30mpg on the hwy. It also pulls 0-60 in 5.7secs. It's limitation is hwy/high-rpm performance.
In your lighter Fiero, I'm sure everything is more fun. If the motor is modified, maybe it's a blast. I never was one for chirping tires at high speed either, but I finally decided having more was necessary in today's market of 250hp family sedan -- economy cars.
Since the TPI shines best at lower rpms and is often referred to as the perfect truck engine, I think it would make the prime candidate for a VX powerplant. I think it would be more responsive and get the MPGs we all wish the VX could pull.
Again, I love what you did...It looks great. In fact, I'd love to drive it! I'm pretty sure I know what it can do!
<thumbs-up>
98Vette, No problem here, I did not even think you were making a point and I did not take anything you said as an insult or anything like that, I was just telling my reasons for making my Fiero the way I did and why I did what I did. I was just telling about what my dream was and that is all. I am glad everyone does not like what I like or what you like if they did it would it would not fun or unique, we would all drive Subarus, VWs or something more practical. I was just kidding around about the chirping the tires and passing bikes and stuff, I guess I should put :) and stuff in my posts so it does not seem so serious, sorry if it seemed that way. I was just kidding around. No offense taken and none given.
Thanks for the complements on my car,
Chris

etlsport what year is that? I was offered a rebuilt 2009 Aero sedan, but even with the very nice rebuild job and very reasonable price, I just can't bring myself to pay very much for a car, no matter how good a ride it is. My wife drives an '07 Aero convertible, which we got for a song on a rebuilt title, I think I love it more than she does.
Now that I fitted the 2001 VX with dubs, I got a chance to shoot both vehicles together. (The VX is otherwise stock while the vette is a custom 89 with 383 stroker.)

Mine is a 2004. My first Saab and I'm very happy with it... 80k on the clock. Its got a few issues I'm working through like a non functioning radio and some broken/missing interior bits then wear parts like the rear brakes
LOL!!! One of the best pic's I ever took was before adding the emblems though....

Biggest difference is most people KNOW Vette's w/o their badging. Mine's still "disguised" though. I put the newer from bumpers/gills on it. Doesn't look like an 89 anymore.
If you want to see more pics, here's my photobucket folder of engine pics...

I'm not usually a fan of 80's model Vette's (probably because of all the pink Barbie Corvette ads I saw growing up in the 80's) but that's a GREAT picture dude.
