If I simply put a little downward pressure on the B-pillar top edge of the glass as it ascends, it goes up smoothly. I've seen the bungee "fix" for this, but I thought this is what the SBCs were made for.

I have the SBC brackets installed to fix the broken plastic tabs that made my window not work at all. I believe that is what they were created for. A better/stronger version of the OEM plastic setup
The SBC brackets fix the problem for 90% of the owners ... I'm special ... I'm in the 10%.Quote:

FYI on the bungee fix: My driver side bungee finally broke last month. Not bad for an ultra-cheap, temporary "fix" installed eight years ago. The window functioned perfectly right up until the bungee broke. Never once had to spend time lubing it. Think I'll be doing that "fix" again! This was the fix that lifts the front of the window so the bungee is under tension only when the window is down - not the fix that pulls down on the back of the window i.e., bungee under tension when window is up.Quote:

Yeah there's not really a proper write-up on that one. I remember describing the fix but it didn't have it's own thread. I'm sure it's buried in the middle of a long ago threadjack somewhere. I provided the length of the bungee so I guess when it comes time to do the driver's side again I'll be using the search function as it took some experimenting to get the length right. Too long and you don't get enough lift, too short and the motor strains to get the window all the way down. Anyway since it was just going to be a temporary measure until I could get time to figure out how to move the lift point forward, I didn't bother taking pics and doing a writeup. I'll take some this time around though.
Hope the SBCs work for you. They definitely look stronger than stock!

Just ordered a set! Both of my windows are not working :(.
I got a set a few months ago but I still haven't put them in yet :_confused Just haven't made the time to do the work. I suppose I'll do that this weekend as well as finally construct my rear storage box. I've been feeling pretty lazy these last few weeks. Could be because of the crappy, no-snow-only-rain we get over here.

The SBC window brackets and regular lubrication of the tracks has solved the issues for me. The previous owner did the bracket install and I keep my tracks lubed with heavy duty silicone about every three months.
So far no issues in 6 years...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

The window lifting arm pulling away from the regulator track is the reason I came up with the washers on the regulator mounting bolts. The goal is to have the arm directly under the glass and still next to the track for the entire travel of open to closed. I tested this by raising and lowering the glass while it is unbolted from the arm. The plastic pad in the middle of the arm should stay under the glass from top to bottom of the track. Then bolt the window tabs.Quote:

You realize that was a 2014 post.
Not sure if VXKAT still visits. I was gone for many years, but recently came back. My 1999 sat for a couple years but is not getting back on the road at least during the summers.
