Just read the thread and now it's dead.
Need an update!
How's the Trailphoon going?
I have a black Typhoon so this is my kind of build. :yesy:
Had a 2.8 Jimmy in '95 too but had to sell it after 11 months when my employer went bust. Loved that truck. Wanted a Typhoon since then and bought it 4 years ago.
The stripped down engine is still in the kitchen! :p
Hey Monstertrucker, I can't beleive someone I don't know was actually viewing this thread! I don't visit vx.info much anymore. But some folks asked in Moab about this project so here is an update.
The last 2 weekends have been all garage so the house and yard are farked!
Anyway... I remove the engine when I need to. As it sits here is how it will sit in the vehicle. The axles are also on casters; so is the frame..

All squared up and level. Notice how easy it is to reposition the outriggers... all by design. Giggity giggity...

My first bends!! I am proud of how all this came together. I bought BendTech Pro but have not even used it yet. I didn't want to waste tube on calibration haha

Everything is square and level too!

Bending is a workout, btw...
OH.. and here is what became of the 3D model:

Here it is in Blitz Black (John Deere paint, I think):

This color is what l call "Meab"... cuz I am a ginger but it is kinda Moab red also.

Any thoughts on these two colors?
Sunset Orange, all the way :)
Two tone...black bottom, meab top?
orange/black :)
Orange? Naaa. No bright colors, please. :)

Damn dude, that modelling looks great! I like the fabwork too, you're makin' me feel bad for not making a frame on mine:yeso: I just blew out one of my casters on one of the wheel dollies holding up the VX, so be careful moving stuff around-the caster wasn't even caught on a lip or anything, just too much side pressure on the rotational ball bearing. I need to mock up my engine/trans/transfer case combo too, but storing it like that is a bit tricky for me.
Hi. Just posting to keep this thread "active". Suspension parts are on the way... Bye.
Glad to see you are still working on it, dude!!! I've been busy too. ;)
Bart
Hello!!! This project is still around I just work slowly. Not that anyone cares. Haha. But I quit my job & sold my house & moved back to Wyoming. I figured I would add this photo highlighting the hillbilly rape wagon-esque moment I parked it:

I had to put the stock frame back in and make quick wooden SAS mounts in order to trailer the project to its new home.
Also, I bought a wrecked SSR and will be bringing that home in a few days as a new donor.

I will explain what is up with that in another two years!
Nice pic, looks mean and Mad Max already!

Justin, I REALLY dig the hillbilly wooden suspension system. It should have some excellent flex.....until it doesn't.
I REALLY dig the color......:winko:
