Nice to see a lot of old friends here. :-) Just looking thru, trying to get back into the Isuzu game by means of a VX really soon.... Might possibly end up with another Amigo or Trooper as I need to get something quickly and can't afford to wait for the right VX necessarily.... but we'll see. I really want one and I think it's about time I get one. :-) Anyway, I'm sure a lot of you remember me, but for those that might not or might need a refresher...
I used to run the 4x4Wire.com Isuzu Pages with Randii Burleson... Spent a good 5 years or so modifying and 4-wheeling Isuzus until some financial problems took me out of the game for awhile. Finally have the ability to afford a little something nicer at this point, and just recently lost a battle between my Montero's front end and a trailer hitch, so I need to get something relatively soon.... Hoping it will be a VX so that I can finally drive the one Isuzu I haven't had the opportunity to drive yet. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, drop me a line sometime. Thanks guys and girls.
Great to see you back, Chris :yesb:
I just joined this forum. I am thinking about purchasing a vehicross. Very cool truck, mostly wondering whether they can be maintained.
Hi I don't own a VX yet but will hopefully by the end of March. Driving a 86 Suzuki Samurai right now. I live on my boat in the Columbia river about 25 miles west of Longview, WA. Drove to Portland yesterday to test drive a VX but after inspecting the outside it has obvious it was a crashed and quick repair to dump vehicle. I'm 6'4" so was concerned with the my "fit" but it was totally comfortable and got me even more excited to have one. So I'm lurking your site for a VX to buy. Will be ready with cash by mid March. Color isn't really a concern but I'm not interested in anything that's been wrecked and repaired. Of course the less miles the better. Under 10k price too. So if you know of a good one for me please let me know. Also any within a 400-500 radius of Yuma, AZ. Going to visit family there in March so could fly there then drive home. Sammy will be for sale after I get my VX too. It's a decent one with no major mods.
Here's a great search function that lists ebay, CL and Kijiji:

Hello everybody.
I am from Italy, located in beautiful Tuscany, in the Chianti area by Florence.
The first time I saw a VX was 2003. A dealer here in Tuscany had it for sale for 35k euro for about one year! VX is extremely rare in Italy, from a research I did some years ago, Isuzu only sold 10 VX in MY 2001! I was about to buy that strange thing, that was catching my eyes so often, but after 6 months, I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee bacause I was more confident in its comfort, and I was scared about assistance for a unique car like the VX here in Italy...
I have driven my GC for 8 years right now, but still I am thinking about owning a vx!!!! I know there's a Guy here in Florence that owns a Kaiser with red/black interior and one of theese days, I'll go to him and make an offer He can't refuse!!!:bgwb:
I'll keep my finger crossed!!! :winky:
Oh my.... an Italian making an offer that can't be refused... I hope this doesn't involve a dead horse!
Haha! Just kidding! :bgwo:
Welcome aboard!
I saw a VX a few years ago and wanted it real real bad, unfortunate on my half I already had a car. I now found a 1999 VX IronMan Edition with about 94,000 miles, and couldnt pass it up.
I do plan so small mods, like adding a backupcam, I also want to hook up a in-dash motorized gps/cd/dvd player to use the backup cam with. I was also thinking of tossing some LED into the inside to brighten it up a bit. I do also want to put a front bumper rail on it. But that's all in the future now I have to go enjoy driving it.
Welcome to the maddness.
Hello Everyone, I joined to get a little more info on the VX. I have had my '99 for 5 years and she is still going strong, not with out some issues though. Approaching 100k she might be getting a little tired but I can seem to part with her. The wife and daughter do not like to drive her which is fine by me:). Hoping to get her dressed up, tires , lift kit, exhaust and if I can buy it I'll make it.

^^^I can't wait to see a showdown in Moab between Ldub and Cdub!!! :D Welcome to the forum new folks! Post pics of your prized rides so I can drool and wallow in seller's remorse. ;)
Hello Everyone, I'm a new member hailing from New York. First & foremost, love this site...can't think of a better place to learn what I need for my VX. I purchased her in Dec with approx 90k miles, normally when some folks would want to get rid of their cars....I loved everything about her(sorry...she's my baby)...flaws and all. I'll post pics today, she needs some TLC, but she couldn't have come to a better place - I want to restore her to better than new condition. I will admit, biggest draw back is rear view visually....or lack there of. Nothing a rearview camera couldn't help to minimize. Looking for links and help...as I'm very interested in several mods. Skid plats, hood scoops, even advice on tires(285/50/18R) and eventually paint. One step at a time...but I'm in it for the long haul. Thanks for reading.
Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I'm in SoCal and just gathering info on the Isuzu Vehicross to possibly purchase one in the future.:bwgy: I wanted to know if parts are pretty easy to find and what shops can work on the VX.
I can't speak for the shops in SoCal, but the answer to your parts question is that it's a mixed bag. The VX body panels are 100% unique to the vehicle, but most everything else internal (engine, interior, etc.) is shared with the Trooper, Rodeo, Passport, SLX, etc. and can be had fairly easily. You'll have to search (or ask specifically) for more info on certain parts, but the general rule of thumb is that cosmetic items are hard to find, mechanical items are somewhat easier.
On the shop question I would try to contact some folks in your area. Try using the member map to find members in your area:

You might start with member rickshaw.
Welcome to all the New and Future VX owners...
I want my 2001 Ebony back.
I frikkin WISH I had them. Before this site was put up we would post on another Vcross forum and that's where I left all my info I believe. Black on black/grey 2001 out of Boston.
If found, please return ASAP. Nevermind what the guy chasing you says. It's still mine dammit.
Did you use the same username on that site? I'm thinking that you might mean the VX Lounge site, but I can't find any mention of your current username, Boston, Massachusetts, Andover, etc. Maybe Knigh7s got rid of some of the old posts?
Well, I remember this car from a long time ago, and it left and impression on me. Not a truck guy. My passion is my third gen RX-7 that is currently going single turbo.
Work forces a potential move to one of the snowiest cities in the country, Syracuse NY, and so this car came back to my mind.
Have parused the forum for a few hours, and looks like getting one will be an adventure. The dealer in CO, looks like a good option.
Hope to have one of these if I have to move to eskimo land.
PS: full disclosure, it did not seem to be any other way to get on the forum if you did not put a VX you have. So I just used a random number and it took it. Be glad to do it another way if need be.
Thanks
Just bought my 1999 VCross from a local guy here in Iowa, Have been researching these for a couple of weeks. I liked the style of these don't like to drive something that everyone else has on the road these definetly fit that description. Have alot of idea's already and some things i am looking for
The POV just had a rebuilt motor put in so we are good there..
1. Looking at lift kit with new shocks ( Was told there was someone on here that had this kit for sale)
2. Need the piece for the windows so they go up straight.
I am also a member of BigDogBiker forums so this is nothing new to me Me and my Wife both have custom choppers that we ride when we can Thanks for all the help ahead of time..
Kelly Foss
Welcome man!
For the lift kit there aren't any vendors on the site, but tons of direction with a simple search. Try it out, there is a great thread that breaks down each lift option very well.
Ask and ye shall receive. ;)

I got a Kurt hitch and installed myself, I think it looks great and no trimming needed on the back plastic. Lots of people here will search out a Tone hitch, works the same but requires some trimming since it sits so much closer to the body of the truck. Most will say it looks better, I can't really agree with that. Either way, the manufacturer should provide specs as to what the hitch can handle, but the VX's handbook (I believe) says these trucks aren't designed for towing. Even though several have done so with success.
Ya I'm with Bob, I had a Reese hitch on the back of mine and really liked it (liked it better when it had the silver trim ring around the receiver, first offroad trip knocked that off lol). As far as towing, I towed this about 500 or so miles with no issues, just drive safe:

S who wants to help me find my old 99'? I have to say, I miss it, last 4=1209
I think the Curt/Dylan/Reese/Hidden Hitch bar-style hitches look best on a lifted VX, while the Tone style hitches look best on a stock or near-stock height VX. Larger hitch set-ups tend to detract from the overall rear appearance IMHO, but that effect seems to be negated on taller rigs.
The VX manual recommends against towing, but I believe Troopers with the same frame/mechanicals are rated to either 3500 or 5000 lbs. (somebody help me here). I think the consensus is that Isuzu recognized that there were additional dangers posed by the VX's shorter wheelbase, so they didn't want to leave themselves open to a potential liability. Regardless, many many members have towed with their VX. You can PM tom4bren or etlsport for starters.
My '98 Trooper was rated at 5000 lbs. HTH.

Bump.
I just picked up an Astral with only 28K miles, roof rack, perfect plastics, CD player still works, floor mats have floor mats on them, rear carpet still there, strap on the back of the rear seat in tact, if VX's came with em this one probably has it :) no sunroof though
Well tell us where you found it and what's it's history is! A 28k VX is a true find, so curious minds want to know. Was it the one in Texas?
Really weren't many options on a VX that I can think of, only the Ironman package was slightly different with the various badging and a roof rack. Sunroofs were an aftermarket item. Can't wait to see your pics.
It was used by a lady until a couple years ago to get groceries every once in a while, and then the last guy who owned it took the greatest care of it, which included not driving in the rain, and garage kept. I think he only put a couple thousand on it to get groceries every once in a while. The old owner was a true lover of this car but it no longer suited his needs. I am very lucky to have acquired this perfect ride.
