Ah, thanks for the heads up... well I can't wait to see the pics, and I'm pretty sure I'd be wanting to get that e-rod/tranny/t-case swap done in the future.

I hope you guys post some dyno #s before you ship it. :yesgray:
I love the "check engine" light. It is like the VX is saying "oh my, what is up with my heart? It feels so much stronger!"
Auto pros,
Just to clarify the pricing a bit...
The amount you posted, is that how much you have spent so far, including labor, R&D, etc?
Could you post a price estimate of how much it could be if a VX owner with the skill and experience to do the project were to attempt it?
When I saw that price range, I immediately felt people's hearts sink.
Thanks!
The cost of the e-rod itself is at least $7500 from what I've found online. Then you have the transmission, t-case, and hardware to get that all hooked up. Fab work is needed as well, to mount the drive train.
So are you guys planning to swap out the vintage 1970s transfer case shift knob? ;)
There is no way they are using the stock CV's on the front wheel drive right? I mean one full throttle acceleration with V8 HP/torque would explode our CV's right?
Will have to wait and see as the photos are put up. I'm excited and I am not a VX'er like you die hards!
We are still doing work on the interior and exterior, engine and drivetrain come first though.

The intake had to be extended to clear the hood.
I wonder what the weight difference is with all the upgrades. Sounds nice, man!
Merry Christmas, from all of us at AutoPros!
Photos of the VX on the ground finally, coming later today!
Does anyone have a source for the exterior emblems?
Still available from Isuzu...
Call Merlin at St. Charles Isuzu in St. Charles, MO.

I've got a complete set of them. I'll trade them for this VX. :b
Such a deal, H3!

Look who is on there way to the driveshaft shop! Then off to the exhaust shop. And then back for the a/c lines installed and charged, and last few tweaks before test drives!
i cant remember and i dont want to read through everything (sorry im lazy) but will this retain the TOD system? i had no idea how awesome our TOD was until we got 10 inches of snow 3 days ago and i was out playing in it - WAY better than just standard 4wd - with TOD lost this entire project would be kind of a waste... why even use a vx?
There is pretty much no way to retain the TOD once you convert the drivetrain, so in short, No.
In looking at the second of the last pics you posted, is that a support crossbar I see below the engine, or something else?
I think it is the tie down strap.
Tie down strap.
Here you go; ask for "Merlin" in parts dept. I hope you are going to "flip-flop" the numbers on the emblems to read: 5.3L

:yeso:
Driveshafts are done and the VX is back for us to do the A/C lines before heading to the exhaust shop. Pics to follow very shortly.
Even with losing the action of the TOD, it is still a awsome build. I have a chevy with the 5.3L in a truck 2x the weight. combining the two, sweet.
Working out small bugs and making the a/c lines today. This thing is a beast, and very responsive!
