Search "isuzu 4.77" "isuzu gears" "isuzu 477"
Finding 4.77s on craigslist is like finding a flying man-bear-pig unicorn. Reason being, most people who know they have 4.77s use the planet to post them for sale. That's why I wanted to tell Jo ASAP after finding them yesterday morning. The only other time I saw 4.77s on craigslist was for a set that was also posted on the planet and scooped up quickly.
In other words, the Planet classified section is the best place for hard to find stuff. :)
You can also search:-
89 Trooper
RS Trooper
Two dr trooper
Trooper Snowflake
...etc!
Its a real lottery as it just depends how the seller describes stuff.
Jo
Oh and JBTW..&^%$ !!
The guy with the 4.77's in Yakima promised them to me..
"First Dibs" to quote.
He was checking shipping etc so I knew how much to send him.
E-mail this morning:-
"Sorry jo, a guy locally wants the stuff, I know you had first dibs but cash talks."
So much for Honoring his word...
Jo
Couldn't offer more? You were willing to pay $1300 before (albeit for plug and play).
What a d1ck though. We'll keep looking.
The $1300 was for a whole different set up...
...which included two lockers and fully reconditioned/rebuilt units.
I probably would of paid more, he didnt give me the chance.
But having been told "first dibs"..
...I took him at his word, and figured it was a done deal, except for sorting out shipping cost.
Oh well....aint nuttin I can do abooot it .

Jo,
vt_mav sent me a link to an 89 Trooper on CL in my neck of the woods. I just called about it. The guy knows nothing about the truck other than it has a 6 cyl engine, 5 speed tranny & 4WD. He didn't even know if it was a 2 door until he stepped outside to look (it's a 4 door). From what I've read, since it's a 4 door it doesn't have the 4.77s you're looking for - correct?
Hi Tom
There seems to be conflicting views on this :o
Some say 2 dr only, others include 4 door.
If its a 4 door with 4.77's the manufacturers plate under the hood
should have option code 6NZ on it...as far as I know!
Is this a whole vehicle, or for parts.
Thanks
jo
Whole vehicle for $1500. Still runs strong. This could be a group effort thang ... if someone is wanting to do the 5 sp swap. Lemme know if you want me to check into any further.
It has the 2.8L engine & the only 3 digit code he could find is V4W. I don't think that this one is going to pan out for us in any way.
Thanks Tom..I appreciate all the help
